December 14 is Monkey Day, an unofficial holiday set to celebrate monkeys and other non-human primates and raise awarenes for many issues they face in the world today. The day was created in 2000 when art student Casey Sorrow scribbled "Monkey Day" on his friend's calendar. The idea has been expanded upon and adopted by environmentalists and various art communities.
"Learn something about these adorable and highly intelligent primates. Or you could use this day to act like a monkey.” – the Washington Post
