side by side

post #3547708 post #1763693 post #3524364

Two or more characters positioned with their bodies generally aligned laterally (from the side) in some direction, and orientation along a spatial plane.

General guidelines

- Postures that are similar (does not have to be the same) work best for this theme.
- The side by side aesthetic should be maintained. In order to maintain the side by side aesthetic, characters should be positioned relatively close by, have their bodily positions more or less aligned along a common direction, and at least one of those characters has their front-facing part of their body mostly aligned with the aforementioned direction of alignment.
- By definition, this contrasts with characters aligned back to back, but the concepts may not necessarily be mutually exclusive.
- This tag probably shouldn't be used if there isn't a good sense of depth (such as silhouettes).

Editor's notes

The guidelines were written to cover a variety of relative character positions where the characters are drawn besides each other, instead of in front of, behind, on top of etc.
