Character: scp-173
One of the objects contained by the SCP Foundation, and the first SCP ever written. Also referred to as The Sculpture.
SCP-173 is a sculpture in the likeness of some kind of living, vaguely humanoid entity made from rebar, concrete, and Krylon brand Spray Paint. It is capable of moving at incredibly high speeds when it is not being observed by any living entities. If a person stops looking at SCP-173 for even moment, such as when an organism blinks or looks slightly away from it for a mere second, it will use this ability to kill any living things near it by either strangling them or snapping their neck. Additionally, SCP-173 produces a substance that contains a mixture of blood and feces that must be cleaned on a bi-weekly basis from its enclosure. The process requires at least 3 people, with 2 of them maintaining watch over 173 and notifying each other if and when they blink, while another does the cleaning.
Often seen in images with SCP-131, since 131 largely negates 173's ability (which relies on breaking eye contact with it).
SCP-173 has no canonical appearance, especially since The SCP Foundation Fandom firmly believes that there is no one overarching canon. However, it is most commonly depicted as a variants of Untitled 2004 by the sculptor Izumi Kato. For years, Izumi Kato had given the SCP Foundation special permission to use the image and by extension the Sculpture's likeness except for commercial purposes. Despite this the photograph by Keisuke Yamamoto, was the only image on the wiki that was non-Creative Commons 3.0 compliant, and as a result became widely considered SCP-173's canon design and winded up being inadvertently used in commercially sold independent products created by fans of the SCP Foundation unaware of the legality of the situation. Not to mention that it permanently altered how the sculpture, and by extension, much of Izumi Kato's work was subsequently perceived. On February 1st, 2022 it was decided that Untitled 2004 would be permanently deleted from the SCP Foundation Wiki, forever. The Image was removed n February 13th, 2022 at 10:35 PM UTC.
