Dark, mysterious, sinister, unfathomable.

Shadow creatures come from literal shadows, darkness, and other negative spaces and anti-substances. They are darkly colored, usually with deep blacks and sometimes purple highlighting, and often have just a few defining traits, such as empty, white eyes, a mouth with white teeth, claw-like fingers, and may emit a dark, smoky energy.

Shadow creatures can take on a variety of appearances:

• indistinct forms emerging from and spreading darkness

Do not confuse with

• disembodied_eyes - eyes without a body, they may indicate a watching character who's otherwise completely shrouded in darkness. Shadow creatures do have a body of some sort, however indistinct that may be.
• shadow_face - faces enshrouded in darkness, but usually with normally colored bodies. Shadow creatures should have uniformly dark bodies.
• silhouette - a simple outline of what is usually a background character. They are often shadowy representations of characters but lack the otherworldly qualities of shadow creatures.
