Character: kieran (pokemon)

Kieran (Japanese: スグリ Suguri) is a 14-year old rival character introduced in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC), and a major character of the DLC. He is originally from Kitakami and attends Blueberry Academy as a first-year student with his older sister Carmine.

In The Teal Mask, Kieran is paired up with the main character in a cultural tour of Kitakami, and reveals himself to admire Ogerpon, despite it initially appearing as an evil figure. Over the course of the story, he finds out the truth that Ogerpon was indeed a misunderstood figure, even while the player has no choice but to keep it a secret from him, and concludes that the player is excluding him out of contempt, even going as far as to steal Ogerpon's Teal Mask, demanding to battle the player for the mask. After the Loyal Three are revived, he decides to reconcile with the player and rehabilitate Ogerpon's reputation while the player and Carmine retrieved Ogerpon's masks. However, Ogerpon, due to following the player, grew attached to the player instead, and against its wishes, Kieran battles the player for its custody. After losing, he flees home, full of resentment towards the player, uttering "Just you wait" towards them.

In The Indigo Disk, upon returning to Blueberry Academy, Kieran, now sporting a new hairstyle and wardrobe, becomes fixated on Pokémon battling, going so far as to rise in the ranks of the school's unofficial League to become Champion. However, Carmine and the BB League's Elite Four, become concerned when he begins using his new authority to bully other students out of the club. When the player arrives, Kieran has the player entered into the BB League at a high stage so he can prove that he is superior to them. However, after the player defeats the Elite Four, Kieran is also shortly defeated, being deranked from Champion. When Briar informs them and Carmine that she's recently gotten permission from Geeta to search Area Zero for a mysterious Pokémon called Terapagos, Kieran sees this as the perfect opportunity to catch and utilise a strong and powerful Pokemon that the player has no knowledge of to finally defeat them. However, upon finally awakening Terapagos, it shows more interest towards the player, causing Kieran to forcibly capture it with a Master Ball, then pit it against the player in a battle, in which he loses again. Under Briar's instruction, Kieran terastalises Terapagos, causing it to grow too powerful and turn on him, attacking him with a blast of energy and breaking the Master Ball. Halfway though battling Terapagos, the player and Carmine manage to convince a guilt-ridden Kieran to join in the battle and defeat Terapagos. He finally realize the error of his ways, so he resigns from the BB League's rankings and requests that he and the player start over as friends. The player presumably agrees, and they return to Blueberry Academy.
