One of the Major Arcana defined in tarot. In typical portrayals, Temperance is an androgynous angel standing with one foot in water and the other outside, and transferring water between cups.

In cartomancy, the upright Temperance arcanum is interpreted as balance, moderation, patience, and purpose.
The reversed Temperance arcanum is interpreted as imbalance, excess, self-healing, and realignment.
