the moon (tarot)

One of the Major Arcana defined in tarot. In typical portrayals, the Moon is a scene with a number of animals gathered, and the moon dimly lighting a small path forward. Two towers stand at opposite ends. A crustacean crawls out of water and enters into a new world, where a tamed dog and a wild wolf howl at the moon, representing two wildly different aspects of the human mind.

In cartomancy, the upright Moon arcanum is interpreted as illusion, fear, anxiety, subconscious, and intuition.
The reversed Justice arcanum is interpreted as release of fear, repressed emotion, and inner confusion.
