The cleaver is a weaponized variant of the kitchen utensil of the same name. It's also larger in size; Large enough to be considered a type of sword.

The blade is single edged, broad-bladed, of variable length (from a short_sword to a greatsword), a blunt flat top, and may be sloped or straight edged.

The hilt is guardless and is connected at the back end of the bottom of the blade as opposed to the center like most swords do.

In most depictions, cleavers are wielded by savage or bloodthirsty characters, reflecting the blade's original purpose as a meat chopping implement.
