Playable character from the first person action shooter Overwatch created by Blizzard Entertainment. He is voiced by Matthew Mercer.

Cassidy is a offense oriented hero with abilities that specialize in area denial and maneuverability. Cassidy is an expert marksman who terrorized the American Southwest as a member of the Deadlock Gang. After his capture he was offered the choice of rotting in a cell for the rest of his life or enlisting in the Blackwatch, a covert section of Overwatch, and serving there. He chose the latter. At first Cassidy enjoyed the freedom that Blackwatch afforded him, allowing him to operate with his own discretion and he hoped to use this opportunity to make amends for his past wrongs. However in fighting and rogue elements led to the gradual decline of Overwatch and Cassidy, sensing it's collapse, quietly left to pursue his own interests and vanished underground.

Personality
Cassidy believes in a code of Justice, despite his past as an outlaw. While a member of the Deadlock Gang he trafficked in stolen weapons and military gear, but not the organization more violent operations. He exhibits a strong desire to right perceived wrongs and can often be found taking on causes or missions with this aim. Cassidy sees himself as the kind of lone hero from Western Movies of old like Pale Rider and Shane.

Namesake
Cole Cassidy's name was formerly Jesse McCree, named after one of Blizzard's developers. The name was changed in 2021, after said developer was one of many targets of a sexual harassment lawsuit.
