ah-6 little bird

The AH-6 “Little Bird” is a light attack helicopter best known for its association with elite U.S. Special Forces, and subsequently it’s appearances in movies, television, video games, and other media. The Little Bird bears no armor in any of its variants, and can carry only (comparatively) light armament. It is most known for having two General Electric M134 Gatling guns, but it can also use Hydra 70mm rocket pods, APKL guided rockets, a single GAU-19 (.50 caliber) Gatling gun, and AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. Though other helicopters boast heavier weaponry or better survivability, the AH-6 is compact and agile. Some users have been able to invert the helicopter to engage enemies hiding behind buildings before recovering and continuing on.

The AH-6 is not to be confused with the OH-6, which is an observation helicopter sharing almost everything in common with the AH-6 save for the weapons. There is also the MH-6, which allows for the transport of up to six soldiers on side benches. All three variants share the name “Little Bird”—though the OH-6 has been in use since at least the Vietnam war under the official name “Cayuse”.
