Character: xenia (linux)

Xenia, also known as the Linux Fox (also rendered as LinuxFox), was a proposed mascot for the Linux kernel designed by early furry artist Al Mackey(nanimoose) in 1996.

In polls held to determine a logo for Linux throughout 1996, the Linux Fox ultimately placed third; however, the results of these polls were rendered moot as Linus Torvalds personally chose Tux the Penguin as the mascot. The character went unnamed and otherwise forgotten until 2020, when a piece of fanart by magnetiorchid (second picture above) got the attention of Al Mackey. In correspondence with magnetiorchid, Mackey accepted the name Xenia for the character and her designation as a transgender woman.
