SCP-1000, aka, Bigfoot and Homo Sapiens Noctis and The Children of the Night are an anomalous species of humanoid entities in the SCP Foundation Mythos. They are based on the concept of Bigfoot and/or the Sasquatch.

SCP-1000 was once the dominant sapient life form on Earth. When Homo Sapiens Dies or humans where first becoming hunter-gatherers searching for food sources in the day. The Children of the Night had already created a technologically advanced super society that far exceeded that of modern humans even to this day. The difference between the two outside of the physical differences is that where as humans had diurnal sleeping patterns and behaviors, Bigfoots had nocturnal sleeping patterns and seldom interacted with humans, eventually coming to see them as distant mythological figures like fairies.

At some point a trickster god known as Pangloss decided to encourage and assist The Children of the Sun in wiping out their nocturnal brethren, razing their cities, and stealing their technology and artifacts in order to jumpstart their civilization. The Foundation is aware of this and actively tries to obfuscate this information, as well as discourage people from interacting with the Children of the Night on the pretense that all members of the species possess a cognitohazardous effect that is lethal to humans.

Due to the fundamentally inconsistent canon their are alternate versions of the origin of SCP-1000. For example, one origin suggests that The Children of the Night were created by Homo Sapiens Sidhe the Faeries/Children of the Stars with the express purpose of using the powerful Fae techno-magicks to enslave and torture their enemies The Human Race.
