Studying is defined as "an act or effort to acquire knowledge" and is most associated with schooling and job training. Examples of studying include reading a textbook, watching an educational video, writing notes during a lecture, and even hands-on learning.

A "study date" or "study session" is also a common set-up for romantic and/or sexual scenes with characters who are in schooling or training.
