K2 is a mountain in the Karakoram mountain range between China, easternmost Pakistan, and the northern tip of India, and part of the same mountain complex that includes the Himalayas. Despite being the second highest mountain on Earth after Mount Everest, it is a much deadlier and difficult climb. Prior to 2021, approximately one in four climbers have died on its slopes. Because of that reputation, it has been called the Savage Mountain.
