The calimocho or kalimotxo is a drink consisting of equal parts red wine and a cola-based soft drink originated in the Basque country, Spain. In early 2004, an artist under the pseudonym Kenzie Lamar G4 posted a suggestively realistic image of Mario on a popular art site. This started a trend that was joined by many international artists who drew various characters from the Nintendo franchise in anime-like and hyper-realistic styles. At the end of 2007, these drawings became a meme in the Spanish-speaking community, thanks to their subsequent diffusion on the website Desmotivaciones.com . By default, all hyperrealistic drawings of Mario Bros and other related characters have been categorized with this label since then.
