Species: calico cat
Calico cats are domestic cats with a piebald coat; in other words, they show off a coat of white fur with patches of two other colors. Outside of North America, the pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell-and-white. Calicos are almost exclusively female except in a rare few genetic variations.
The line between calico and tortoiseshell is blurry, but is generally accepted that calicos have over 50% white spotting and "patchier" patterns rather than "brindled".
