Ganguro is a style of Gyaru that peaked in popularity in 2000 in the Shibuya and Ikebukuro districts. The trend focused on the rebellion against traditional Japanese beauty standards (pale skin, dark hair) and instead uses dark tans and light colored hair. In furry art, dark fur colors can be used to achieve the same aesthetic.
A more extreme form of Ganguro is Manba, which features even darker tans contrasted by brightly colored makeup, clothes and accessories.
Common features:
- White or pastel eyeshadow around the eyes
- White or pastel lipstick
- A white line down the bridge of the nose
- Exaggerated droopy eyes
- Curled or teased hair
