stomach
This tag specifically refers to the internal organ, for external depictions of the abdomen where the stomach is located, use belly or midriff.
The stomach is the organ responsible for digesting food. The stomach secretes stomach acid to chemically break down ingested substances into chyme, which is then further processed and absorbed by the intestines.
In humans, and many mammals, it is a roughly "J"-shaped enlargement of the alimentary canal, located in the abdomen, linking the oesophagus to the small intestines; the shape, size, and even number varies by species, but anthropomorphic characters are rarely depicted with non-human stomachs.
Tagging Notes:
This tag applies to depictions of the internal organ, such as in anatomical diagrams or cross sections, as a disembodied symbolic image, internal views of characters, substances or objects within a stomach, or when a character has been traumatically injured and/or disembowelled, exposing the stomach.
