Gargoyles are monsters inspired by the architecture of the same name. They are said to be stone statues during the day (due to petrification) and come to life during the night.
These creatures are typically depicted with demonic features, which include bat wings, claws, demon horns, and a tail (which may or may not be spaded). The color of their bodies can vary, but is very often grey like rock when they are petrified.
They also tend to be shown crouching or perched at the top of tall buildings (such as cathedrals).
These monsters are prominently featured in the animated TV series Gargoyles, the Gargoyle's Quest duology, and Demon's Crest.
