Why are there two pokemon tags for each post? I did try to remove the one without the accented e, but it isn't getting removed.

https://e621.net/post_tag_history/index?post_id=542291[/quote]

Check out the wiki entry for pokemon: zorua implies it. Whenever a post is edited, aliases are resolved first, then implications. So whenever a post tagged with zorua gets edited, if it already has the pokemon tag, it gets changed to pokémon. But then, when the implications are resolved, it is added again because zorua implies it. Solution: zorua should imply pokémon instead of pokemon.

well, it looks like that irritating issue i pointed out in my previous post isn't limited to JUST e621. i'd like to know what is causing that as it is indeed VERY annoying. seems you have to (if your left clicking the download link in the case of pics) sometimes hit the back button, do a hard refresh of the page (ctrl+F5) then click the link again for it to download correctly and even then it might only do one or two downloads correctly before screwing up again. i don't know whats causing it but its real frustrating and makes it very hard to download any pics at all.

I'm not sure if it's just my browser or Google Chrome in general, but all site text is currently completely messed up.
See the screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/16wZwkM.jpg

Some of the text is huge, and some so small that I can't read it. Can't even see what I'm writing right now. Can't read the text on the buttons either. All other sites seem to work fine.

I don't know what's causing it for Genjar, but all text is displaying normally for me in both opera and firefox. Just in case that information can help at all in figuring this out. That looks miserable to work around.

Both Opera and Firefox work fine for me too, it's just Chrome that's messed up.
I'm not sure if it's a site problem, could be that one of my extensions broke. Reinstalling didn't help. I hate losing my data, but I guess I should try a full reset.

EDIT: Yep, never mind. It was just me. Of all the things, disabling Hola seems to have fixed it. Even though I didn't even have it turned on for this site... :/

Unintended foci rite removal

I am using the site while on my phone.
Ever since this morning I have been trying to look at images that I have favorited, yet when I go to view them by clicking on them it instead Imeadietly removes them from my favorites. When I refresh the page the image I have clicked has been removed, along with this my background is set to "bloodlust" in my favorites and only in my favorites, I have tried to change it or reset it but this does not work either. Thank you for any help you give.

Well I have just fixed my problem by relizing I had something set wrong. Please disregard last post

In addition to what Char said here things like "pool:number", or "artist:artist_name" are showing in tag history only to be removed after another tag update.

Example: https://e621.net/post_tag_history/index?post_id=543778

"+artist:ippan_jin" and "+pool:4812" shouldn't be in tag history (or at least they weren't until recently)

Those are actually handy, since otherwise there'd be no record of who made those changes and when they happened. As far as I know, it's a (new-ish) feature and not a bug.

Honestly, I do believe it to be a bug. My best guess is that tag history entries are generated before properly resolving tag changes. That's why you can find tags with capital letters or aliased-away tags in tag histories but not on posts. See https://e621.net/post_tag_history/index?post_id=544072 for examples.

Shoot, the system in general is a bit buggy. My mouse is on it's last legs, and it often double clicks (sometimes triple) and I've accidently upvoted some posts by more than one.

Deh-tiger said:
If they were recently uploaded, it's possible some of those upvotes were from other users.

I have occasionally had this happen, though the last time was maybe even a month ago so it's been awhile. Both upvotes and downvotes on comments have occasionally bugged like this. Most often when the site was lagging up a storm and I rapidly double-clicked trying to get it to acknowledge the comment vote. Then after a godawful delay, it would finally admit I voted on that comment, and on an even more rare occasion it'd give me an extra vote. Or someone else coincidentally voted at the very same time. So I think there's a very small occasional glitch there. But I haven't been able to do it on purpose, and it seems to happen rarely if certain mysterious conditions align, etc...so I don't think it's a major problem. And it's hard to tell if it still does it or not when I've run into it so rarely and the last time was awhile ago.

On a related note, there is a looks-like-a-bug-but-probably-isn't thing with voting on old admin comments. Because it used to be impossible to vote them down, but I think the system actually kept a record of when people attempted to vote them down. So sometimes when you vote up or down an old admin comment, it'll sudden change the vote by several votes. Almost like the system is playing catchup. Which is kind of funny. And awkward. But I suspect it's just the votes it had accumulated but were blocked, and voting on it now sort of "unstuck" the vote count so that it would show the total votes on that comment instead of just the upvotes. *personal theory* But I mention it because I could be wrong and it's actually a bug.

Updated by anonymous

I'm not entirely sure, but I think when I favorite something, it's automatically giving the image an upvote (which isn't always such a good thing since they aren't always synonymous). But it's also causing a glitch where I can favorite something (and it gives an auto-vote-up) and then I can separately vote the image up. This gives me two votes. I thought it was just coincidence at first, but it's happened enough times that I'm pretty sure it's a bug.

I'm not so happy with the favorites-means-automatic-upvote-whether-you-like-it-or-not either. I know to some people they use their voting vs their favorites to mean separate things. And I know on occasion I won't feel something was good enough for me to upvote it, but I still liked it enough personally to favorite it. If it's automatically done on my behalf then it becomes rather pointless whether I actually wanted it upvoted or not because it will do it anyways. It will also change the results in searches by score vs searching by #times favorited, lessening any differences there are between the two searches. I don't know if those differences were useful to anybody, but I know a lot of people search using those as a way of finding unofficially "recommended" content when browsing.

Genjar said:
That's actually not a bug. It's a feature for privileged+ users: we get an extra vote for favorites.

Here's an old topic about it: forum #102621.

Oh ok. I had no idea, but thanks for the heads up. I do wish there was a way to toggle it on or off to give more flexibility. I know Tony mentioned making that an option (in that thread you linked), but I don't see that setting anywhere. But I guess it's not a major deal. That thread is very helpful background on it though, thanks for the link.

At least 75% of my favorites now appear as broken links (it has been getting worse over the last week), and no, they are not all FA-sourced images.

The odd thing is that *all* the 'safe' rated images that will not load on e621 *do* load on e926 ...

My liquor-addled brain recalls reading that e621 has recently switched to a new IP address; same goes for e926, or do y'all think this is the culprit?

(I waited to post this from a different ISP, in a different city ... same thing is happening ...)

All thumbnails are there, but images show only as broken links.

I had to disable that shortly after implementation because it was using way more resources than I thought it would, I just haven't reverted the API docs yet D:

Are there any plans on adding back this feature? I need to get the list pools an image is in, and HTML parsing isn't really the way I think I should do it.

Maybe by adding a post_id field to /pool/index.json. That way you will only compute that if the user really needs it.

That's an issue with Cloudflare caching the corrupted thumbnail and serving it instead of the fixed thumbnail.

https://static1.e621.net/data/preview/f1/f5/f1f5937642fff6bf5aa66a95232932be.jpg <-broken thumbnail

https://static1.e621.net/data/preview/f1/f5/f1f5937642fff6bf5aa66a95232932be.jpg?test <-fixed thumbnail, but it's the exact same file. The "?test" does nothing at all.

I think it should EVENTUALLY fix itself once Cloudflare stops serving the cached thumbnail, but I'm not sure how long it takes to update.

Button to remove favorites is missing.

Expected behavior:
When I open post that I favorited I expect to see big red button with text "-Favorite" which would remove picture from favs.

Actual behavior:

I can still have it appear by using firebug or just unfav picture from post browsing view. It's still a bug though.

Bug?: Locking the post rating overrides rating changes done at the same time.

Expected behavior: When you change the rating and lock it in the same edit, the rating should change first and then be locked.

Current behavior:
It locks the rating first, then fails to change it. Because it's locked.
So if we want to (fe.) change the rating from questionable to explicit and lock it there, that requires two separate edits. First to change it, second to lock it.

Minor bug: I somehow managed to favorite post #544363 more than once. It's shown twice in my favorites, and my name is also listed twice in 'Favorited by'.

I might've double-clicked when I favorited it; but I was unable to repeat the same with other posts. Maybe just a temporary glitch, since the site was lagging a bit at the time.

Bug: Some videos sort as if they have higher MPix than the largest images
Expected behaviour: order:mpixels sorts videos according to their resolution only, so that long but low res videos come after high res images.

Actual behaviour:: Some of the videos (all webms?) are ordered before even the most insanely high res images, despite most of them not being particularly high res.

We don't have anything tracking video resolutions right now so they won't work with sorting until we figure that out.

There is a blank tag on this that can't be deleted for some reason.

I just checked: there are no 'strange' space characters in the field, and manually posting an update through the API does not eliminate this tag. So I guess this is a bug in the backend rather than, say, the javascript used on the page.

For a while, I was experiencing vanishing spaces after punctuation marks on posts, but it seems to have corrected itself now. Was this an actual bug that got fixed, or was it something entirely on my side?

There's been a fairly fickle bug kicking around in both forum posts and comments where immediately after posting, spaces in your comment around punctuation and links etc will display as if they're missing. But if the page is refreshed, it will display normally again. And no one else can see it, because the post is fine, it just displays funny to the poster of it immediately after the comment/post is added to the page. It's been mostly cosmetic, but annoying. It does look like it's been fixed now though! *fist pump*

In any case, I'm pretty sure it wasn't on your end. A lot of people had been running into that particular bug for months. Apparently it was proving difficult to track down and eliminate it from showing up.

ETA: I actually still see a space missing or two some of the time. But it does seem to be showing up less than it used to. Still progress though.

I've just replicated the bug on post #410813. Reason of this seems to be adding - tag. If you add it then you can't remove this empty space. Also searching for - give strange result. "No posts matched your search.", but it has 3211 pages.

Bug: Whenever using the preview button on any text box coincides with a site error (520, 522, etc) then the whole page will reload to become the official error page, eating the unfinished post in a way that seems impossible to recover the lost work/text from.

And it seems to be a relatively new change, because it used to just give me a text version of the page error message within the 'preview' pane, allowing me to still keep the unfinished post intact so that I could try again in a few minutes when the site was feeling better. Now, it just eats it, so that once the site recovers from the error, I have to start back over writing it from scratch.

Expected behavior: Functionally, it would be so much better if it somehow let me know there was a site issue for the moment without taking the whole page and unsaved work sans warning, like it's currently doing.

Steps to duplicate: Unless you can cause one of these site errors to happen, seeing this in action involves a fair bit of bad luck. You have to be writing a post or entry of some kind, and then try to "preview" the text while the site is experiencing a connection error. It may take a little bit to respond, and then instead of "previewing" the entry above the text box like normal, it will reload the entire page (taking the unfinished post with it) into the standard error page. And then your work is lost. It seems to replace the current page (as well as the unsaved entry in progress) with the official error page. Neither the back button nor the refresh is able to recover anything which was not-yet-posted.

I've had it happen when trying to preview a forum post I was writing day or so ago. And just now it happened when trying to preview an artist wiki I was writing.

Why this matters: Considering there's no way to know if hitting preview on an unfinished text box will coincide with whenever a site connection error randomly wants to happen, this means carefully written work can be pointlessly lost without warning. Using the "preview" button before finishing a post or entry shouldn't lead to the unsaved data being eaten by an error page. The data should somehow be preserved so that the text-in-progress can still be previewed/saved/submitted a few minutes later when the site returns to functional order again.

What the fuck is going on with the tags? I removed necrophilia from a post, and the tag history shows that I removed and added several other tags as well.

And something similar happened with post #553524 - A user saw that the image had big_penis tagged, and removed it, but I never added that tag when I uploaded it, and the tag history does not show any trace of the tag.

This has happened to me too. I'm assuming that the tags of a post sort of refresh when they are edited, maybe any tags which have had implications etc added or removed since the post was last tagged will take effect the next time the tags are edited.

Edit: Also I remember a while back I tried to add a couple of tags to a post and instead of adding them it replaced all existing tags with the ones I tried to add and I had to put them all back in again.

Yes, those are implications and aliases that get credited to the wrong user. It's been like that for a month, maybe longer.

For example: the uploader tagged that as naked, which is aliased to nude. But that change (naked -> nude) is credited to the next editor, instead of the person who uploaded it.

Unfortunately it is this way by design since the blacklist is actually processed on your computer and not the server. The downside is issues like this (simce they are actually just hidden), but the upside is that you can easily unhide the posts since they are all still on the page.

I don't know what you have blacklisted, but you might want to consider increasing how many posts are shown at once in the settings page (from 160 to 320) so more are shown on one page.

Another option is to familiarize yourself with which tags have the highest post counts (using the tag page so that your -searches remove the most posts from your search as possible. For instance, you would be much better off using -intersex before using -leash because the former will remove far more posts from the search.

You can't go above 320, it's the maximum. If you put in a higher number, you just get a ''Per page is above maximum value of 320. Set to 320 instead" message.

The blacklist, as parasprite says, works client side (on your browser), but it also work as the opposite of the search box.
That said, you could be probably blacklisting a tag that exists in most posts like "*male" or something similar

Perhaps it would help if you gave some info on what browser you're using, and what addons, if any, you are using with that. Also the value of your blacklisted_tags cookie (viewable in Firefox via rightclick->View page info-> Security tab->View Cookies button, or with any browser via the "view cookies" bookmarklet listed here )

I haven't been able to reproduce this, myself (attempted by replacing the content of my blacklist with 'gay' 'nezumi' temporarily).

It seems to only have that problem on Firefox. I opened chrome and readded them to my Blacklist and now I can see posts just fine, but when I log in on Firefox, all the posts are gone, and I've already deleted my cookies and all that before I gave Firefox a fresh reinstall. I didn't have an addons for it either, nor a "Skin", which I doubt would've caused the problem, but still.

Sorry if you can't reproduce the problem. I'm using chrome now so I should be fine, but if it happens to anybody else while they're using firefox then it's probably the same problem.

You don't have to be sorry, not being able to reproduce the problem is the usual situation in debugging. I'm just providing data.
(I should have specified, I'm using Firefox 33.0.3 on Arch Linux x86_64, BTW)

The blacklist system works through cookies, so if you really don't have a blacklist_tags cookie, nothing at all should be blacklisted. But, since 'gay' and 'nezumi' show up on your blacklist, you -should- currently have a blacklist_tags cookie, regardless of the fact that you cleaned out your cookies earlier.
(unless you specifically delete it every time after editing your e621 settings, but that would be insane.)

If it works on Chrome but not Firefox, there is some case to be made for checking whether the values of blacklist_tags on Firefox and Chrome match up or not.

four{return}{return}

five{return}{return}{return}{return}{return}

six{return}

This is what I actually put (ignoring the non-breaking spaces you can't actually see). Can confirm.

Chrome 38.

Fascinating.

Also seems like multiple newlines are erroneously treated as the end of the paragraph (<p>) in \

blocks, and as such, no line-breaks are added there. So this pretty much works the opposite way than it should.

Deleted posts are being shown as the posts' tag listings instead of the "Deleted" thumbnail.

I can reproduce this by hitting CTRL+F5 to force images to be reloaded. Without doing that, I couldn't. When I rightclick and go 'view image', I get https://e621.net/images/deleted-preview.png , which brings up a 404 not found page. So I guess someone accidentally nuked it.

I can't reproduce this (Chrome 38). The deleted thumbnail shows correctly for me regardless of what I do. Any chance I could get a screenshot (imgur.com) of what is happening and what browser you are using?

^ Granberia's screenshot is accurate for me too, aside from the theming difference.

My browser is Firefox 33.0 on Arch Linux x86_64.
Testing in Chromium, it's broken in a slightly different way: instead of tags, you see the 'broken image' icon. ( http://i.imgur.com/6kJqMPf.png )
Midori (another Gecko based browser) is similar to Chromium, just with a different 'broken image' icon.

Have you tried visiting the url I linked (and reloading it)? It would actually be rather insane if only some people got a 404, since 404 implies the file doesn't exist at all.
