Requested feature: Disallow users to delete their own forum posts.

Why it would be useful: Because only moderators should have that option.

Side note: A "Hide" function for users like the ones you see on comments would be good.

Requested feature: Strike out banned accounts' names when they appear in the User and IP search utilities.

Why it would be useful: So when checking a banned user for making sockpuppet accounts, I don't have to click onto their userpage to see if they're banned or not.

Why it would be useful:
It would be really nice to be able to click through to the next image, whether I'm looking through my subscriptions, I've searched for potato, or just looking through the posts, rather than clicking on an image, going back. Clicking on the next image, going back. Or opening 20 tabs, closing them, then opening another 20.

Aurali would have to make the final call on this, but to my understanding, in order for this to work, the server would need to perform your search again every single time you click on "next" or "previous", and then display the next higher or lower post ID that matches your search terms.

It's a good idea, I'm just thinking it's probably not going to happen. But again, the technical abilities of the site are up to Aurali.

Requested feature: make it so people have to press either explicit questionable or safe when uploading, instead of just having it on questionable by default.

Why it would be useful: Because it would minimize the chance of somebody forgetting to rate a picture explicit or safe accordingly

When you upload a file, and leave the "source" field blank, e621 should automatically put the file name there.

Why it would be useful:
In the howto:source it says:

5: If you have no idea where you got it from, put in "Unknown source" and then the given filename surrounded by quotation marks.

Many people don't do that.

I already mentioned these in the other thread, but what the hell.

Requested feature:
The ability for contributors or higher to lock ratings from the upload page.
Why it would be useful:
A lot of people disagree with what constitutes questionable and explicit, and this will cut back on the erroneous rating changes.

Implications and locked threads should be reflected in the mod actions.
Why it would be useful:
They just should.
(When forum changes come up ask again)

Requested feature:
Mods should be able to clear out FFD's without approving the image.
Why it would be useful:
FFD's are drama bait and it's better to clear them out as soon as possible even if we're not sure about approving the image yet.

I think I've requested this before, but I don't recall the response. This makes sense, and it makes sense why it wouldn't get implemented. I'll not ask for it again and just keep opening a billion tabs.

Major (and unlikely) idea.

Request:
Tag each character individually, and allow searching per image or per character.

Why?
Searching for multiple tags often leads to multiple characters each with only some of the tags. This is especially problematic when blacklisting tags.

For example, searching for female -mono_breast can exclude images with 1 normal female and 1 single-breasted one. (Although it seems my example fails as this site has a severe lack of mono-boobed entities).

This has actually been proposed before (or I know I've certainly discussed it with Aurali before), and it's definitely something we'd like to do. I've not been made aware of any estimate on when this would be implemented though, or if it's even being worked on at the moment. I do know that Aurali is concentrating on improving other aspects of her Ouroboros software right now, but I think there's a chance we'll see this sort of "tag-grouping" implemented at some point too.

It's still in the design phase. That kind of functionality can cripple the site if not done right.

Request: the ability to change your vote on a post
Why this would be useful: Misclicks happen.

Request: The reason for deletion should be parsed for post numbers (or even get fully formatted).

Why: Presently, the reason for deletion is plain text only. This would be an improvement over copying and pasting a URL or figuring out the post URL given a post number (e.g. of the superior image being referenced in the reason).

On an unrelated note, maybe this should be a forum topic per request, like is currently done for tag aliases. Then features could be discussed better. Should I submit this as a feature request? :p Because funny I just came here looking for the feature request topic, but it's only five days old? Maybe I must have been thinking of the bug report topic.

Ssearching for the next post that has a specific tag should definitely be a trivial operation with the right indexes. What I'm conserned about is that the user interface gets changed. UI bloat isn't good!

Requested feature: Comment count added to 'tooltip' or option to be notified when someone comments on your submission

Why it would be useful: Allows users to interact at their convenience and the submitter to respond to those comments. the tooltip, while already useful for viewing current tags, rating, and score, does not show how many comments were made. You could also implement an option to send notification to the submitter if a comment is made, but I feel that the former is more viable and will be less annoying in the long run.

The closest thing to a blacklist is disabling all the comments,which doesn't allow you to edit tags,if memory serves correctly

Requested feature: The post history should display the source URL history (I assume that information is kept, if not, start keeping it as well).

Why it would be useful: Recovering from vandalism, see who's contributing useful metadata... the same reasons we can see the parent post, rating, tags field histories.

If there is some way to see this, it's not accessible enough.

Requested Feature: Ability to blacklist images downvoted by user.
Why it would be useful: No need to blacklist an otherwise acceptable tag, or tag group.

I imagine this would be a particularly taxing feature to program. Would there be an option to turn it on / off in the settings? Would you be able to undo it if you accidentally voted down (which people often do)? How would it be categorized in the Hidden section on the Posts page?

I'll try, here goes:

I think it would work like any other blacklist tag, like -rating:e, you change your mind about the blacklist, you delete it and save the changes.

Ability to change accidental downvote/upvote, would need to be added.

I would think it would appear as: tiltawhirl:downvoted or maybe tiltawhirl:post_downvoted or something similar. I don't know how it looks when one downvotes not having done so. Doesn't it show up for mods and admins when a user downvotes an image? If not, I guess that makes me an ass for assuming it does.

I agree that it sounds really complicated and may not be worth the effort needed. Especially since it sounds as though Aurali already has a lot to do. Still, I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Edit: I don't mean just me, even though I sort of made it sound that way. I used myself as an example since I made the request.

Requested Feature: Be able to search for posts based on comment count. something like order:lastcommentedat.

Usefull Because: It's be nice if a user could find if one of his images sparked up some good comments.

Why it would be useful: Would be nice to know, instead of randomly finding out by, looking at your deleted post counter

Usefull Because: It's hard to see which posts get downvoted. The only way is to memorize comments that haven't been downvoted before you show the hidden ones.

Useful Because: If you don't know if you are using a good tag or a bad tag it will flag it when uploading.
We have recurring instances where people tag something wrong simply because they aren't to date with latest alias and tag changes. Or if this is hard on the site just make a wiki-like page that contains tag definitions and what common tags are misused.

what about a temporally image post boost?

i mean like a button to request a temporally boost for the image post limit that needs to be aproved by a mod/admin.

so click button write a few words how many pics you have, what there about, from which artist or whatever.

i think there are some times it could be useful, in my case i asked for artists permission to upload their stuff here and i still got about 120 pics to upload and it is a real pain in the ass when you can only post a hand full pictures every day.

Requested feature: Extending the Contact Page with links to this thread and a link to the Bug Report Thread.

Why it would be useful: Took my 5 minutes of my life to find these 2 threads but only 10 seconds to spot that Contact on the Main-Site.

Requested feature: Get a notification when someone answers to your comment.

Why it would be useful: If you're asking something, you would get notified, instead of constantly looking into the picture over and over again.

However, you could also turn this on and off.

Requested feature: searches for literal strings in comments.
Why it would be useful: Sometimes "near enough" isn't near enough. For example, if I click on "Search for myself in comments" in my account page, most of the results are actually people talking to/about "snowie", who is an entirely different user. The typical search operators to avoid this ("snowy" / snowy -snowie) don't work.

Requested feature: The option to show/hide avatars based on rating (particularly explicit)

Why it would be useful: As an alternative to blacklisting regular posts as well (one supposedly can't blacklist the avatars without blacklisting regular posts)

Requested feature: Some sort of "friends list", or just a sort of contact list.

Why it would be useful: If there are other users that you chat with, or just keep in contact with contstantly, you don't have to search through mail, posts, comments, etc. To find their username and send them a message.

Why it would be useful: Personally, I don't know, maybe if you're awaiting a response to your comment and tire of F5'ing a lot?

I doubt this will get implemented..

Requested Feature: a News/Rules node on the home page and/or main page since the person may be lazy and not check the >> area

Useful Because: Users just signing up and posting a profile pic will know not to do this.
NOTE: Maybe gave a link to the rules not hidden away
NOTE2: add 'Don't upload tiny pics just to use as avatars, they will be deleted' to Posting Rules.

I'm glad you were able to find a way to accommodate my request (a third option I hadn't even considered) though I wouldn't be surprised if it was there the whole time and I just overlooked it :P

Implement a way to find posts with and without sources

Requested feature: make a search-tag to find images with a source and for those without a source. like "source:true" and "source:false"

Why it would be useful: it would make finding and adding sources where it's needed a lot easier , or just finding images with sources for that matter.

Requested feature: Make it possible for individual users to hide certain threads and not see when they're updated.

Usefulness: Users who aren't interested in forum games or certain topics could use this feature to ignore them. It would prevent non-participants from having to repeatedly mark all discussions as read.

If desired, Admin could include a toggle for important threads so that those topics could not be hidden.

Requested feature: Being able to see what tag became "invalid_tag" in the tag history

Why it would be useful: To see what the person was trying to tag and be able to apply a more suitable term other than invalid_tag. Also so mods can see what a user keeps trying to tag and take action to correct it.

You could do this using cookies, storing 2 ids (previous and next ones), when the user clicks next, the next id is loaded and the same for previous

I have 2, not too likely but...
Requested feature #1: Expand the width of the comment box area to fit the screen
Requested feature #2: The same but for the height of a post fitting with the height of the avatar.

Why they would be useful: Dunno, more visibility and alignment of the comments?

Currently I have these overriden with custom CSS (on my browser) so that's why I considered them unlikely.

in the bottom right corner, there is a couple of dots shaped like a triangle, with that you can expand the box as much as you want

So let me get this straight: your search results look something like this:
2 3 5 7 11 13 17 19 23 29

User navigates to post 7. A cookie is created with field "prev" = 5 and field "next" = 11. So far, so good. User clicks next. Now they're viewing post 11, and the cookie has...what? Since they came from post 7, we can set "prev" to 7, and that works out okay. But what do we put in "next" now? The only way to figure that out is to run the search again, which runs into the whole "excessive server use" problem that this system is supposed to avoid.

I was sleepy at that so couldn't think better :P. Thinking more, as you said: the results saved as an array (this cookie could be "SearchResults"=[2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29], or something like that) and cycling through them

Requested feature: Making Flagging images part of the ticket system

Why it would be useful: That way you can be notified, when one of your uploads have been deleted and the other way around, you can get notified if a image you flagged was deleted or not.

If you don't make it part of the ticket system, a helpful alternative would be a link in your account page that creates the search user:Rainbow_Slash status:flagged or something similar so that you can easily see your posts status the same way you can easily find comments on your posts or search yourself in comments. I still think it would be nice to have it in the ticket center.
