Requested Feature: Pool creation date

Useful Because: I like to know exacly when a pool was created.

That information is already available. Click on "history" on the pool's page, and look for the oldest entry.

Requested feature: The "Add to favorites" link should show a spinner or some indicator an operation is in-progress, and maybe a checkmark after it changes to "Remove from favorites". And same for "Remove from favorites" of course. This should replace the note "Adding to favorites" and maybe "Post #x added to favorites" that appears at the top.

Why it would be useful: This would be better UI design, it places the success/in-progress note very close to the element that's being affected, so you don't have to scroll up to confirm your command has been executed. And the note most of the page down some.

Requested feature: In the stats bar under posts thumbnails, there should be a letter to show what the post ranting is, like E(explicit), Q(questionable) or S(safe)

like this:

Requested feature: The addition of a forum category 'e621' / 'Site-related', or something similar

Why it would be useful: Creates a group for topics that pertain to e621; such as 500 errors, site-related drama issues & discussions, and everything that's currently stickied

Requested feature: The ability to blacklist/whitelist/hide specific forum categories, showing only the ones not blacklisted/whitelisted/hidden |Edit: Hooray!

Why this would be useful: More related topics per forum page
No more 'irrelevant' forum updates/frequent use of 'mark all as read'

(For those who might not be aware) As a quasi-workaround, mousing over the thumbnail should show the post's tags, rating, score, and uploader respectively

If you have a mouse.

Requested feature: The ability to add pools to favorites

Why it would be useful: If you're following a comic that has been pooled, and is still updating, you don't want to lose track of it while doing other stuff. Or if you like a common theme that the pool has, instead of faving each post independently, just fave the entire pool

Whew! It's been a while since we had a feature request...

Updated by anonymous

I just fav the first item in the pool, but that does mean having to check for updates manually.

Updated by anonymous

Requested feature: Have image dimensions under the upload preview
Why it would be useful: So you can see if you are uploading the highest res version, also to see if hi_res is needed.

Our current system of Dtext is rather antiquated. Instead of having to manually type them in, there should be buttons that you can click to activate them near the text field. Even FA has this feature. Even. FA.

You can have mine, it doesn't work as expected (it just adds the tag at the end), but it's a start

I kind of like not having them. It's refreshingly different.

Request: How about a rating filter? Being able to filter results based on rating (explicit, safe, etc.)?

Useful because: People who are searching new things (for whatever their purpose may be) will generally want to see a certain quality image on the topic before looking for anything else. This can help with that, as well as making locating certain images simpler and quicker.

Add rating:explicit rating:safe or rating:questionable to your blacklist found under your account -> settings

Alternately you can search rating:safe, rating:questionable and rating:explicit

Search for:

  • For safe rating: "tags -rating:s"

Questionable: "tags -rating:q"
Explicit: "tags -rating:e"

See help:cheatsheet for more

Uh...you've got that exactly opposite. Your search "for safe rating" will return every result for "tags" that is NOT rated safe. The proper searches are as follows:
To find safe images: "[tags] rating:s"
To find questionable images: "[tags] rating:q"
To find explicit images: "[tags] rating:e"

Edit: hrm, that's interesting. Off to the bug report thread!

Requested feature: A subdomain that will use the "old version" of /post's site design (pre July 26, 2012's update). Read-only is fine.

Why it would be useful: Andbooru crashes when trying to parse the html here since that site update, when it used to work fine. Author has been MIA for the past 2 months and the app is closed-source. It's a wonderful app, much faster and easier than using a browser.

Why it probably won't be done: a bit of work that would only benefit a small chunk of the site users who use(d) the app. Though I guess it couldn't really hurt to ask. It's just pretty annoying to use mobile browsers when an app works better.

Thanks~

A mobile version of this website... Would be nice. But I'm sure someone has already requested that.

Updated by anonymous

Requested feature: Few changes to related tags in upload screen.
Currently there is that template:

tag_that_exists
related_tag_1
related_tag_2

and no entries for not existing tags.

I suggest to change to something like this:

tag_that_exists wiki_of_tag count_of_tag
related_tag_1
related_tag_2

///

tag_that_does_not_exist
Tag does not exist!

Why it would be useful:
- It would be easier to find tags that not exists, which were very often mistyped.
- It would be easier to find how much used is tag you're about to add.
- You would have possibility go to wiki/examples of tag you're about to use without manually opening new tab.

Requested feature
A sign on/log in link on the homepage.

Why it would be useful
The most discoverable way to log in from the e621 main page is to click Posts, then Sign On/Log In. (The » link is hard to spot, and the Login link difficult to find on the page it links to.) This means a page load where the user's blacklist is not applied, with possible legal repercussions if content on the Posts page is illegal in the user's country as well as being potentially distasteful.

Why it would be useful: I find it an essential to add this feature to the website, because many other websites have it. It will also be nice to friends to talk to without searching through post or history.

Requested feature:
Gender info in user profile and somewhere above avatar.
Why it would be useful:
It would be useful to know gender of someone who you're about to respond.
(Unless xe or she won't fill it, but then xe can't complain when you refer to xem improperly.)

Requested feature:
Sets of favorite tags in user profile.
Why it would be useful:
Now, user have only one set of favorite tags, but sometimes, e.g. if user is doing one of tagging projects, xe would like to have few sets of tags, between which xe can switch, without copy-pasting it and saving somewhere else.

In the search bar for forum...

topic:art and body:art to narrow results to one or the other

Still topic:art gives some false results, for example your post, though it's in feature request thread. And all of it could be written in forum help by admins, since users can't change it.

make a go to first page and go to last page button. so whn people look up for example bird a tag that has over 100 pages they dont have to go every 6 pages till they get to the end. they can just click 1 button and bam, they are at the last page.

Wait, there already is that, you just click the page number of the last page.

Inform me whenever something from my favorites gets removed because artist got butt-hurt / rage quit / furry happened.

This is what pissed me off about most websites that have a favorites system - something gets removed and I may not even notice or worse - something gets removed and in favorites you have something like "Removed" so I don't know what exactly got removed to restore it.

Requested feature: being able to remove tags from searches.

Why it would be useful:so when you search for a tag you can narrow the search down even more.

For example: if your looking for horse you could remove all of the pictures with the my little pony tag

Requested feature:
When someone uploads a post without any artist tags, e621 should automatically add the "unknown_artist" tag.

Why it would be useful:
Because many people don't tag the artist, and it would be nice to at least have the "unknown_artist" tag in this case.

Updated by anonymous

Requested feature: If I deliberately search for a tag that is on my black list it should probably override the black list. For example if I have "My_little_pony" blacklisted and I search for it, even if I 'unhide' the search term all of the thumbnails are still blacklisted.

Why it would be useful: So that I do not have to remove tags from my black list in order to search for them if I need to do so.

Requested feature: have the mouseover preview show tag colors

Why on earth: Much easier to see what art tags a post has without crawling your eyes over every tag first, and you can't see if it has an art type tag

Updated by anonymous

Requested feature: A different colour (black?) for posts in a pool that have been removed and then re-added; in a similar vein to the re-added tags

same can be said for the squares next to the note system.
White for brand new (like 24 hour new)
Green for Still there
Yellow for been edited in the last 7 days
red for been deleted

also, maybe a user acquires color scheme? the whole halloween color change gave me the idea, maybe add a button at the bottom of the page that lets Logged in users change between a select set of colors, from Original (the current one) to Nighttime (red and black), ect.

There should be a tag type along the lines of ifpool where if an image is in a pool, other tags would need to be in the pool.

Ex. ifpool:true rating:explicit would only show pool images that are from a pool containing explicit images.

Do you mean as a boolean operator, or like inpool:true rating:e?

Updated by anonymous

Inpool:true isn't quite the function I want, I want something that would exclude pools that don't have explicit images in them (front pages on comics and non sex pages being blacklisted when I blacklist rating:safe annoys the shit out of me, but I still don't want rating:safe only pools and images.)

Above post translation unavailable, mainly because the request is so asininely specific that I don't even.

Can administrative staff lock the tags on specific images yet? I'm sick of fixing post #257254.

Updated by anonymous

I just discovered that you can't put thumbnails side-by-side in a forum post. Would it be possible to include this ability?

Right now the display of several thumbnails merely increases the vertical size of a post and leaves a lot of "whitespace" (or in our case, "bluespace") on the right side of the screen. It would be much better to have thumbnails next to each other horizontally if you're trying to compare or group them.

Updated by anonymous

Sorry for having another feature request so close on the heels of my last one, but I just ran into something that was annoyingly unexpected. I found an image on FChan that I liked. I wanted to see if it was here so I could see some more of the artist's work.

There's a signature on the image. I figured "Hey! Do the obvious search first and save yourself some time. Look at the artist list until you find someone whose initials are 'BB'. It can't be that hard. Right?"

Wrong! It seems that there's no way to display an alphabetical listing of artists, or tags in general, either. So ... feature requests (two of them):

Feature Request: Ability to alphabetize both the artists and tags listings.
Reason: It makes more sense when you're trying to find out if something exists.

Feature Request: Graphic and textual database of artist signatures.
Reason: To aid in identifying the artist of an image, what else?

I know the second request might be a little out in left field, but it just makes so much sense, since a lot of images you get from other sites might not be immediately identifiable as to artist. With a little ingenuity it should be possible to create a searchable text listing of those tags which can be easily read, and a graphical listing of those which can't.

For what it's worth, my story did have a happy ending. After a bit of experimenting with tags (the most obvious ones didn't yield the image I was looking for), I discovered that the image in question was done by Black-Kitten. Interesting, since the signature is two ornate, interlocked "Bs". I would never have associated "BB" with "Black-Kitten", although a quick look-up of "BB" in a database that crossed it with "Black-Kitten" would have been sort of nice.

Tags can be alphabetized, just order by Name: http://e621.net/tag?type=1&order=name&show_empty_tags=1

RedRaven said:

While that's out of the scope of what e621 was designed to do, it would be a great idea for a separate site.

Updated by anonymous

Erm ... OK, I missed that with the tags because I assumed (bad thing, I know) that this required to actually put a word into the "name" box to do an actual search and that it would then give a list of tags that included the exact sequence of letters in the input word.

Now, if we could have a similar search facility for artists ...

I figured I'd get an answer for the second feature request like you gave me, but it was worth a try.
