Topic: [Feature/Implemented] Insert a space when editing

Requested feature overview description.
When users click Edit, a space is inserted between the cursor and the first tag. When users click a post in Edit posts mode, a space is inserted between the last tag and the cursor.

Why would it be useful?
Users clicking Edit usually want to add a tag, not modify the first/last tag. This saves them from entering a space. More importantly it prevents the common mistag (for me at least) of anthro2016 which happens when I try to quickly add anthro to a post and forget to add the space.
A tag history search reveals that this happens dozens of times per year, even from experienced taggers. As Genjar points out, this actually happens hundreds of times per year.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?

100% good idea. It can be done when the post page loads.

I've suggested some other stuff for Edit posts mode. Not sure where it is.

Ultimately I think it would be really good to have a separate field that starts empty, just for adding tags, considering how common a task 'just add a couple of tags' is. But for the meantime, this is much simpler and an unambiguous improvement.

Because even if user inserted space themselves, double space works exactly the same and one space will make misstagging less likely.

It'd be nice if spaces worked as intended in the fist place. Spaces still get eaten in the comment box untill you edit it a second time. URLs too.

+1. Simple and useful; I like the idea.

+1. Yuh. I usually just pick a spot in the middle somewhere to insert a space, but that'd be nicer still. One less click when you're trying to get in a rhythm.

Sure, sounds useful. +1

You don't have to edit to get them back. Just reload the page. Only the person posting sees the lack of spaces for that one instance immediately following hitting 'post.'

When I click Edit, the cursor is placed after the last tag, not before the first tag.
Firefox 52.0.1 under Linux Mint

Is this correct behavior?
I remember it being the other way around.

When I click Edit, the cursor is placed before the first tag.

Created, it now focuses the tags field, adds a space, and puts the caret at the end of the editing input in a consistent manner. Pending deploy.

Will this also effect Edit Mode on the post index? forum #227446
