Actions speak louder than words and don't lie. The word of a feminist is worthless if her actions say otherwise.

Yes, I agree, I was trying to express my objection to Ledian's statement in a generic Socratic way, in order to avoid being unnecessarily inflammatory.

Can you say confirmation bias?
We were originally talking about a commercial displaying sexist stereotypes about men. How is feminism involved one way or another?

well, these days feminism is so female surpemacist that even actual feminists don't like being called feminists. it's now more a word for what some call feminazis.
also, you guys probably heard about the newest doctor in Doctor Who being a female, right? well, SyFy has a new series called Van Helsing starting today AND... Van Helsing is a woman.
yeah... that's a first. really, a first for that character as out of all the movies and other stuff van helsing has ALWAYS been a man.

this is very true and in time tends to show that all major movements or ideologies become that which they claim to oppose. for feminism it started with feminists fighting for equal rights between men and women. now it's all about womens rights while treating men like shit and like they're worthless and a problem that needs to be dealt with.
which is likely a major part of why they get so extremely hostile whenever mens rights are even mentioned in the slightest. hostile and VERY toxic verbally.
and i'm by no means trying to bad mouth real feminists by saying all of that (obviously), but that's simply what the movement has become over time. a twisted, corrupt, version of what it began as.
fem van helsing...think i'll do some looking around and see why that came to be.

One, the Doctor ran out of reincarnations after absorbing a nuke, two, it shouldn't be possible for him to change genders from it. Was it really him, or his clone-Daughter, or River Song?

At the end of Matt Smith's run the Time Lords gave him a new set of regenerations. I honestly thought it was kind of a weak excuse myself.
Though there was never any restriction against the Doctor regenerating into a woman, it's just never happened before. Time Lord gender is fairly fluid.

I've actually already watched a little of that series. It's... Good? But the writers could stand to be a little more thoughtful about certain things - literally every black character in the show has either betrayed the main cast or done something incredibly cowardly over the course of the show and I think they may not realize what kind of message they're sending with that.
Regardless, it's set after the vampiric version of a zombie apocalypse, and the main character is the descendant of the Van Helsing legacy, not the well-known Helsing vampire hunter himself.

That... makes zero sense. The Gallifreyans were locked into the void, so bringing them back is another "weak excuse." Renders the whole Master storyline obsolete, and that's what lead to the nuclear absorption. Would have worked better just rebooting the entire thing.

Moffat was kind of obsessed with bringing things back to how they were in the 'golden years' of Doctor Who, and erasing R. Davies' 'mistakes', so he did a lot of retconning bullshit that doesn't really hol up to scrutiny because his writing is shit and he doesn't care about continuity.
There's some evidence he was starting to get better, but tbh it's too little too late given how much damage he did, and I'm kinda glad he's stepping down.

iirc that season kinda revolved around this mysterious crack in time & space or something (it'd keep appearing as a crack in a wall) which wound up being a crack in the seal keeping the time lords on gallifrey locked away. they started sending a message through which, apparently, would unlock the seal and resume the time war if answered. 1 simple 2 word question that probably only 1 man in the whole universe could answer: Doctor Who?
but... that question went unanswered and (as moonlitsoul pointed out) he got more regenerations or had the limit removed or something and proceeded to fix everything as usual. all while leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. again...as usual.
a lot of stuff in that show doesn't make much sense and with the seasons starring Peter Kapaldi (uh...is that how his last name was spelled? not sure), they've even started mentioning stuff like google in the show. like that one episode where the doctor did something known as a bootstrap time loop.
as for the female thing... i THINK it was said somewhere in the series long long ago that a regeneration can sometimes go wrong with unexpected results which might explain the master turning into the mistress. either she was from an alternate universe somehow or a regeneration might've gone...weird. still, in the master's case it worked out pretty good and got him...her... a lot more camera time. as for the doctor being female...i'll wait and see how that turns out if they stick to that plan before judging that one.
come to think of it, when does the next season begin?

That's a fair point. It depends on the presentation of the content. The more 1-dimensional the stereotyping, and the more seriously it appears to take itself (with regard to this stereotyping), the more suspicious it is.

just saw a commercial for fish and animal shaped sleeping bags called Snuggies and my first thought upon seeing them was...vore. all because they make it look like you're crawling into the creatures mouth.
wtf is with these people making things for kids?! first a game where you make a plastic dog shit out little yellow play dough chunks of "dog doo". then a game where kids flush a toilet and hope to not get sprayed with water.
now sleeping bags where it looks like they're crawling into an animals mouth!

Apathy is a different proposition. The author is promoting understanding, not apathy. It's compatible, AFAICS, with the proposition 'everything that you do matters'. I'm not apathetic to your argument, I just don't have the illusion that I know even roughly how you felt when making it.Regarding the issue I brought it up in the context of -- virtue signalling -- people often do seem to believe that they are being empathetic to the people they are exploiting for social status. Since the Big5 personality measure 'Agreeableness' is one of the strongest predictors of PC behaviour, and agreeableness predicts strength of ingroup/outgroup preference [ie. how tribalistic you are, basically], this claim has some credibility.
Right, but there are different types of empathy. The Sociopath and the Autistic for instance are exact opposites, yet one has less of one type that the other has more of. And belief doesn't mean a thing, because while the two examples given are complete opposites in every way, the average human will see both as identical down to the last detail.
In fact the ones that have high cognitive empathy but low emotional empathy benefit from this inability for humanity to tell the difference, while the opposite is true for those with high emotional empathy but low cognitive empathy. The former plays any side like a fiddle literally guilt-free (not a hyperbole. guilt is impossible without emotional empathy.) while the latter has no possible course of action where they will not be targeted from every direction.
And I know this is going to sound like I have a suggestion to propose, but I don't. Nothing can be done. Nothing ever could, and nothing ever can. This will repeat and nothing will be learned. The people who claim to be the exception are the sole reason this is the case.

well, since my usual site for dragon ball super english subbed episodes still doesn't have episodes 109 & 110 uploaded yet, i decided to take a risk and check youtube. oh, what a horrible mistake that was.
1st video i found was...some of episode 109 where the audio cut out during 2 sections with a stupid "Goku vs Superman" fan animation making up the 2nd half of the video. and i know it was fan made because goku and superman had 2 distinctly different art styles and goku was speaking japanese while superman spoke english.
2nd video was this shit which, after checking to be sure, i reported for misleading text and spam. all that shitty waste of bandwidth was was an attempt on the uploaders part to beg for subscriptions with a 100% click bait title. yeah...that deserves every down vote it gets. i don't sub to channels that beg for subscriptions at the start of videos.
guess i'll just have to wait a little longer and hope they get this uploaded on my usual site soon. waiting 2 weeks+ is annoying when the show usually sticks to a 1 episode/week release schedule barring unexpected delays.
edit: and the 2 new episodes are now up. you can find download links and whatnot here.
edit2: well... that was certainly worth the wait after all. a power surpassing even the gods. and yet... lol
i thought they triggered a blackhole for a moment there but no, yet another step in saiyan evolution it seems. an amazingly powerful one.

Robert E. Lee school name changed
not too long ago there was an asian football announcer who got transferred due to his last name being lee (i hope i'm remembering those details right).
now we have a high school in texas, named after Robert E. Lee, getting its name changed to L.E.E.
and in both cases, these things were done due to social justice BS.

Have a local vote. Unless it's a private school, people should be allowed to change such things.
Robert E. Lee ultimately sent invading forces into the United States ignoring the obvious argument. He betrayed the United States Army which trained him and whose soldiers died under his command, regardless of loyalty to Virginia. We don't name schools after Alexander Hamilton

Yes. And even if not, who gives a damn. I wouldn't change a school's name if it was named after Hitler. That said, the state can do whatever it wants, whether I agree or not is insignificant.

When games won't connect via Google Play. Usually, this login process happens automatically and completes without any dramas but some games will repeatedly fail to log in and being told to "try again later" doesn't help.
A less serious but related thing that annoys me is how some games log me out if I'm playing offline, meaning I have to waste data logging back in each time I play. Oh well, at least it's only a small number of games that do this.

currently got 27 more pages worth of pics to sort through as a result of the strictest scan...then likely more as i rescan while lowering the strictness each time just to make sure ALL dupes are cleared out.
should whind up with several hundred MB to 1GB+ space cleared this time and that's not getting to the furry section yet. lol
edit: there, that's enough for now. 1.8k+ pics and 848MB+ space cleared.

A question for those who game on PS, Xbox and iOS (and maybe Steam, because I'm not sure if this is possible for Steam): If you fulfill the conditions for an achievement while not logged in with a relevant account (XBLA, PSN, etc.), will that achievement become unobtainable? I've noticed that this happens on some Android games (eg. If you kill the first enemy in Good Knight Story while logged out, the "First Blood" achievement becomes unobtainable. Even if you go back and kill that enemy again while logged in, the achievement won't unlock.) and the only workaround I've found for this is clearing the save data and starting again.

good question and i'm not entirely sure about "1st kill" achievements but it should give it to you once you log in and kill anything. now, if it's a case of killing a major storyline boss in a game while offline then yeah, that might screw your save file since you'd have to replay said boss to get the achievement probably and if that game only autosaves and saved after the boss died then...have fun restarting your save file. :/
assuming you can't replay bosses that is.
and on an unrelated note: DAMN MY EYES!
i dunno if you remember that time i was left temporarily blind several months ago and had to visit the eye doctor several times but i've had trouble with my left eye ever since. and i'm fairly certain i know what the exact problem is. whenever i go to sleep my eyes drie out so i'm thinking it's that condition where your eyes don't make tears normally. all i can do is get my aunt or uncle to help me with some eye drops before (and sometimes after i wake up depending on how bad it is) i go to sleep. i'd do that myself but...some things like that are hard for someone to do on their own. :/
today, i woke up with my eyes (mainly the left one as that's the worst off by far) in pain and now, as a result, everything is super blurry in that eye. only reason i can even type this and move around much is that doesn't seem to affect my right eye hardly any so that one can still see things clearly making it only half as bad as it could be. it's certainly annoying but nowhere near as bad as it could be.
technology would be nice for things like this. >.> like...a replacement that wouldn't require moisturizing all the time. though such a replacement process would likely hurt like hell and then some.

On the PS the save files are on whichever profile you're using so if you were to unlock a trophy while not logged in, which I don't think you can do you can still unlock the trophy on your profile.

Entirely depends on the game itself and how the achievement is coded. Generally speaking the flag for getting an achievement is tripped by something in the game, that then sends a command to whatever service is being used. The conditions for that to happen are entirely left to the developer of the game, they just need to ensure they use whatever API is required.

My theory for that "First Blood" example is it trips when the total number of enemies killed hits 1, and can't trip after that since there's no way to drop that number below 1 without deleting the save. The same likely applies for "Fist of Fury" (Kill 10 enemies), "The Veteran" (Kill 100 enemies) and "The Conqueror" (Kill 250 enemies). Games like this really should have a way to check for achievements that should be unlocked at that point but aren't for whatever reason.

When a video game is labelled an RPG because it has an XP system in it even if it contains no actual role-playing (and no, simply controlling a character doesn't count, otherwise every game with a playable character in it is potentially an RPG) while other games with all the required role-playing elements within it (which an XP system is not one of) isn't labelled an RPG just because it doesn't involve swords or magic.
It also doesn't help that finding a definition for "role-playing game" that isn't either 95% fluff or so vague that Pac-Man would qualify is more difficult than it needs to be.

I was thinking more on the lines of incremental games (they usually play themselves), tactical RPGs (unless "puppeteer" counts as a role) and many JRPGs. An example of an RPG not labelled as one is WWE: Day of Reckoning.
A lot of people seem to think that having an XP system is all it takes to be an RPG which probably explains why Zelda 2 is considered an RPG while all the other games are considered action adventures. Zelda 2 is the only Zelda game with an XP system. The problem with this is there are plenty of games with XP systems that are not RPGs (Colin McRae: Dirt, Sonic Dash, etc.) and you can make an RPG without an XP system.

hmmm...cross or multigenre gets complicated sometimes. and while one such game might not really be one genre (RPG for example) it may share enough aspects to technically be considered that genre.
shining force (the original games on genesis and sega cd) games are tactical RPGs or TRPGs. they're main;y strategy games but share enough aspects with the RPG genre to be considered both at the same time.
it can also make it hard to find a specific game when everywhere you look are lists filtered by genre and the game you're looking for doesn't fully fit into any one genre. this was the main problem i was having the other night when i was looking for that one type of game but had little to nothing to go on.
the game i was looking for was similar to games like divinity or baldur's gate (the PC games, not the ps2 games) but the movement wasn't limited like those games. it was more like diablo where you could move wherever you want without those little circles forcing you into a grid or something.
i'm certain it was of the RPG genre but not sure what the exact sub-genre might be. because it wouldn't be first or third person, not tactical...
hmmm... i...think the gameplay was similar to the mmorpg conquer online only it'd be an offline game. that's the kind of game i was looking for and likely why i couldn't find any such games anywhere.
edit: Video Games: The Eternal Scapegoat!
let's be honest. who didn't see this coming from a mile away after the vegas shootng?

Complacency and stagnation is its own road to Hell, however slowly it might move.

Fruit flies, specifically the fuckers that won't land on any other surface in the room except this one particular spot on my thigh.
Then proceed to land there over and over again with pin-point accuracy after I shoo them away.
This motherfucker knows he's pissing me off, I just fuckin' know it.

I can empathize with you on that. Try a kitchen filled with over a hundred fruit flies because they were drawn to the damned bowl of fruits. Those fuckers always kamikaze themselves into my coffee!

lol reminds me of this one time when our fly problem got so bad that i had to carry everything needed a fair distance away from the kitchen to make a sandwich. that was one big swarm of flies in there that day. and it often times seems like there's literally a never ending supply of flies too (especially in the summer) since we could all be walking around the kitchen every now and then killing them all over the place and STILL have a large number of the little bastards flying all over the place...on top of filling up the nearby fly strip hanging from the ceiling. >.<
flies or gnats, both are incredibly irritating. flies go after your food. gnats? those damned things just get inches from your face and WILL NOT GO AWAY!
edit: CNN Goes Full Libtard
ok, normally i wouldn't even put Mark Dice in the angry thread all that much but this time, CNN has attempted to drag a video game into their russian conspiracy theory.
the game in question is Pokemon Go.
bad enough video games get used as a scapegoat for other stuff but this? this is BS and they know. in fact, their entire russian conspiracy theory is 100% BS and they know it is.
edit2: Why Girls Want To Join The Boy Scouts
:/ well... how can it still be called the boy scouts be the "boy"scouts when they start letting girls join?
it'd be nice if something good came of this but i rather doubt that'll happen.

Question: Do the girl scouts let boys in now, or does this shit only go one way?

Knowing you, adding milk to cereal would probably result in a burger.

Um... what does "Twitter expanding it's character limit" have anything to do with Donald Trump? And why is me pointing out that you made an unnecessary jab at him making ME a "drama-baiter"? Hmmm... I'm seeing some double standers going on here...

You'd have to ask why the Fake Bureau of Investigation and the Cuck Unintilligence agency aren't investigating the mainstream media instead? Weapons of mass deception is MORE real than that Russia insanity.
Next we're gonna hear they'd start a "Trans-Scouts" then a "Kin-Scouts" and then a "Muslim-Scouts"... ...Sorry, i'm not going to go down the rabbit hole right now.

Because I didn't make any "Stab" at him whatsoever. You're the one clearly looking for a reason to create drama. Drop it.
Also.. Double standards? Really?

I was purposely being vague to AVOID any potential sh!tstorms since I was focused on the tweet limit and its having just happened to coincide with certain other things.

The problem there is it makes it look like you're trying to take a shot at him and hope it flies under the radar, which potentially causes a shitstorm if said shot is detected.
Anyway, it's highly doubtful that Trump's the reason for the character increase. It's more likely because tweet threading is a common enough practice to warrant the option for longer tweets, Trump's rants being one example of that.

Frankly, if people want bigger posts, they should use another service, like Tumblr.

Tumblr is for blogging. Sometimes, the thing you want to say goes beyond that 140 character limit and linking a second tweet just because you went about twenty characters over isn't very intuitive and you can't abbreviate everything.

I know steam literally doesn't allow you to play the game unless you're signed into the account that owns the license to said game, but I do believe not being signed into Xbox or PS never awards achievements/trophies unless you're signed in to any account if my memory serves correctly. I'm not even sure if the console even allows you to save without an account though...

I feel like it's also because so much people have to make multiple posts constantly to talk about a certain point, I have seen this multiple times on Twitter.

That's what I thought, but didn't know for sure since I don't have a Steam account. It would really suck if you wanted to play a Steam game but couldn't because their servers were down. At least offline games won't cut you off when someone else's connection dies.

If that's the case then how is someone without a functioning internet connection meant to save their progress? Unless an internet connection isn't required for setting up PSN/XBLA accounts, I don't know.

Yes, In the SAME post I originally put there, I already mentioned it wasn't the case according to the Twitter people. I just thought the two things coincided a little too well. As to people seeing attacks everywhere, Those people need to chill the fuck out. The world's already overly PC bonkers as it is.

yep, steam is some pretty nice DRM. sounds like a "it'd be an awful shame if something were to happen to your account" situation. basically holding the games ransom without charging money past the initial purchase prices.
servers go down...you lose or forget your login info... there's a lot of things that could happen and cause you to lose all those games you spent money on. and it's all thanks to the wonders of DRM.
