Database work, being the most dangerous, is gonna be waaaay down the road so I have time to test it properly and make setup scripts and stuff

Take all the time you need. It's not a necessary priority by any means.

Would it be possible to implement a way to replace images? Say, for instance, a user uploads a sketch to the gallery, and later a completed version of the sketch is made. Rather than uploading the complete picture as a separate post, just replace the sketch that was previously uploaded with the complete picture.

Updated by anonymous

LOLOL I fucking hate e621. They uploaded my BFF's artz! I'LL REVENGE THEM! *hacks people, replaces every upload with RL scat, cub, guro, etc.*

...that's why.

I would say parent/child the sketch and finished drawings and a request could be put in if the general opinion is that the sketch brings nothing 'special' to the table, then it can be deleted. Though I, for the most part, generally like sketches, so yeah. :)

Updated by anonymous

Man I can't wait for this update to be patched through, this site looks broken without it now XD

I've been debating on this myself, and even though it's a great resource.. sadly there is no good way of doing it without it being easily abused or just not useful.

Updated by anonymous

Well, I just figured it would be a feature made available for the mods/admins, or am I misunderstanding the issue at hand?

Too bad we can't orginise posts in galleries.
Like :
"My drawings" ,"Rule34","Eric w Schwartz" etc...

Updated by anonymous

DR, if only admins had access then there wouldn't be enough users to keep up with everything.

beyond the scope of the site.

Hrm. What about if, instead of just mods/admins, it was put to Privledged members and up have access, and they go through the listing of available pictures with a "to be replaced" flag, look at the sketch and the finished piece, and vote either to replace or keep. After a certain tally is made (say, 50 more votes?) after a minimum amount of time (say, three days? A week?) the choice that had more votes is retained. That way it's a community-wide project so no one can claim unfairness against any one person or small group of people- since it was the community as a whole that voted that way; it keeps the anons out, and doesn't overburden the mods/admins, as well.

So, here's a suggestion I emailed in.

"e621's current tagging system is extremely good, but it has one flaw that a very specific part of how I use the site has made obvious to me. I am both straight and prone to very specific cravings, usually related to a roleplay; this might leave me wanting to see, for example, a lioness doing doggystyle. Unfortunately, the tagging system simply converts lioness to lion, and while I can exclude gay images, there is no way to specify that I want the female to be a specific species. This isn't going to be so much of a problem for a gay person, due to not having the gender issues, but it's enough of a problem to seriously frustrate me.

My suggestion is for a sort of sub-system of tags, where each character in an image is given a gender and species, possibly linked to the character name if one is available. These would be searchable through some kind of tag syntax, i.e. a search for 'Straight "lion female" "fox male" doggystyle', returning images with a male fox and a lioness in. "

I got a response from Char;

"
This sounds good, but would most likely require quite a lot of work to actually implement, and we're currently not wanting to deviate too far from the official danbooru code (danbooru is the gallery system e621 site runs on). Contributing ideas is always encouraged though, and I think it'd be a good idea for you to mention this one to the e621 community via the forum"

So I'm pretty much just posting the thing here to see what you fine folks want to make of it.

I do think it's a good idea, as far as usefulness goes. Sometimes I want to see a female canine getting it from whatever, other times I want to see a whatever getting it from a canine. As it is, I've got to search through a looot of pages for either one, so this would be super nifty.

It does seem like something that'd be a bit difficult to implement, so I've always just sucked it up and browsed 100 pages to get my fix XD

Updated by anonymous

AmadeusPhoenix said:
Pretty sure I said above; that method of searching brings up images of male lions with female whatevers.

Would just be easier to un alias lioness.

Updated by anonymous

Un aliasing lioness would certainly work... for this one case. That's just an example.

Updated by anonymous

Aurali said:

Of coursse. and while we do that, we should also unalias vixen, and mare and others like that. of course then we get into the debate: is it squirelette? or squireless?

I'd like to see a feature where you can change the number of posts displayed per page with an option in your account settings.

Updated by anonymous

Making blacklisting easier to use without having to root around in settings would be my choice. Perhaps add a button next to the tag ?+- buttons which

  • asks you whether you want to blacklist the tag
  • if yes, takes you to your blacklist, with the new tag appended onto the end
  • encourages you to edit and click save

HACKSSSSS

Bookmark:

That way every-time you visit e621 100 thumbnails will appear! YAY! and also e621 bandwidth will go up*

Uh...yeah, it's probably not a good idea to have that feature enabled. Seems like a good way to make it easy for trolls to explode the servers/your bandwidth bill.

Yeah, that's getting capped in the next update..

I want to be able to read a message, then be able to check a box and still have the 'You have mail' banner show up until I look at that message again.

Any plans to bring back the +/- links in the tag list that allows you to add/remove tags from your search query?

It's a handy feature when trying to find a certain post or a specific theme by letting you quickly add/remove tags in your query.

It's available for upgraded accounts. while I'm here, I'd love to see an edit feature on comments, so if I typo I can go back and fix it without double posting.

You can just copypaste the original comment, fix the typo, repost the comment and delete the first one if you're really that fussy about spelling and stuff.

Thats what I do.
Although,it should be like 15 sec opportunity to fix. After 15 sec passes, comment locks him self, and it can't be edited.

Now, the forum isn't really active enough to warrant a billion little subforums for every thing. However, I do think it would be worthwhile to have a sub-forum where all the threads discussing tags should go.

Updated by anonymous

This is somewhat in the vein of 'Tag/Note/Wiki Edits' viewable under user/show/# account page, but maybe a FDD counter? Possibly an unapproved/approved FFD too.

And extrapolating a bit, a FFD cap, with a similar formula to the post upload cap. Although I haven't seen anybody mass FFD yet...

The counter might help other users point out major FFD abusers (if the cap isn't implemented)

e621's forum is mainly about e621, and things that go on in e621, so you will have to share the forum with people that have made forum topics about things irrelevant to e621. So we can be one big, happy family.

Eh, FFDs aren't really important enough to catalogue... all I can see a total of approved/deleted deletion requests is to have that little extra bit of e-peen.

And extrapolating a bit, a FFD cap, with a similar formula to the post upload cap. Although I haven't seen anybody mass FFD yet...

There is a FFD cap, two a day for members, unlimited for priviliged+.

The counter might help other users point out major FFD abusers (if the cap isn't implemented)

Oh, we know who's abusing the FFD. Don't you worry about that.

I do want to code in a subforum system. but that wouldn't be necessary for three maybe subforums

well, I was going for the really SIMPLE subforum idea, but something more complicated might be welcome too :D

Actually, the reason I wanted to have a tag discussion subforum is just the opposite. I felt bad cluttering up the front page with what are basically maintenance discussions :p Rather than being able to ignore the irrelevant topics, I suggested it so users could ignore the site clean-up discussions if they just come for the prons and silly topics about guns lol.

Remember original file name when uploading posts:

When you upload something to e621, it automatically changes the file name to a string of seemingly random numbers and letters. I know why e621 does this; it's to avoid name conflicts.

But it'd be nice if it preserved the original file name somewhere.
That's because some uploaders don't include the source or the artist, and the original file name sometimes contains information that can help you find them.

I think it would be a good idea for users to be able to choose how many thumbnails show per /post page. I'm on a high speed connection, so 160 per page is no problem for me, but that many may be a problem for other users on slower connections

This.

Seeing the ratings of comments would be pretty neat (as in what current score it has from all the downvotes/upvotes).

True, but i think it would create load on server.

Kaik said:

Ye,I suggested that as well. Downvotes and Upvotes are rather pointless if there is no shown rating.Something like YouTube system would be neat.
That hides if comment rating is way too low,and if its very high, those 3 highest comments are shown seperatly on top of the comment pile.

Updated by anonymous

current score = good. moving top 3 to top of comments = bad. Then it'll turn into a popularity contest to see who can get the most upvotes. No.

agreed. plus, out of context conversations. but seeing the current score would be nice :D

Nah , moving up comments for their rating is not a great idea. Just show the rating and it'll be enough.

As an actual suggestion, would it be possible to add the date that a pool was updatedd next to its other info in the pools list? I check it every so often for a few in particular and it'd be nice not to have to keep track of how many pages were in it and just see if it updated since I last looked.

Is it possible to create Reply system,so if anyone quote someone he gets message so he can reply? Something in Main Menu page .I mean, here is example:
"What program did you use?"
now after 5 months I need to search trough entire list of favs, comments to find anwser.
Also "Mark Read All" on forum page would be useful.

honestly the system that does quotes is too far disconnected from the dmail for this to be implemented.

I don't think that rating:explicit is a tag, per se, so i don't think this can be done. If it could, however, that would be AWESOME.

slyroon: No, you can find tons. It only searches for what you type, though, so if you don't include the wildcard * then it won't search for anything that is what you typed, plus anything else. try it with *breasts*.

I've no idea how this could work, if this could work, or even if I can explain it properly, but here goes.

Would it be possible to make it so that when you're in edit mode, when you click on a picture, it doesn't take you all the way to the top of the page for the edit box? Maybe appears below the image? It's just a bit frustrating, because the point of Edit Mode is so you can do a bunch of tag edits quickly, but it takes you to the top of the page, then you have to scroll back down and find your place again.

For example, today I searched for "BDSM solo female -black_and_white" and noticed a loooot of B&W images still show up. I decided I'd try to go through and tag those, but especially now with the longer pages, I have to scroll waaaaay down after making an edit and can't always be sure if I'd just fixed an image or was about to.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense.

I'd like to be able to draw someone's attention to a thread by mentioning them, maybe by using the @Username Goes Here notation. Like twitter but er, with spaces and stuff. Maybe.

Speaking of drawing attention to comments, I still would like to see comment flagging returned.

Another thing, I would like to see what the mass tag editor will actually be doing before I press save. Entering things into the boxes and hoping it does what I want it to is not how I want to be using it.

Maybe something can show up under the posts after I click Preview, that can show what tags will be added to the posts, like the wiki does? Backlight the tags to be added in green, ones removed in red?
