Topic: "I don't like the theme." and how you can help.

Posted under General

The theme presented here is a quick conversion of some of the base hexagon theme elements, so it isn't expected that everyone will be happy with it. We are still working on the theme and working on adding support for multiple themes back into the site. It's a large task, so it will take some time to complete.

This thread exists to let you help with changes you'd like to see.

Please keep feedback constructive, as there is nothing actionable in 'I don't like the way it looks.' or 'The colors hurt my eyes.' Instead focus on how these things can be changed to help resolve the problems that you have with the theme. It's also important to remember that it's unlikely that everyone will agree with all changes suggested here, and that some level of compromise will be made, so be civil with others if you disagree with their suggestions. We don't have a way to just snap our fingers and make the site look exactly like it used to, or we would have.

The most helpful thing you can do is to provide CSS snippets that resolve the problems that you have with the theme so that they can be evaluated and integrated into the code base. CSS snippets can be tested from within the advanced user settings.

Suggestions for writing useful CSS rules:

  • Structure your changes around the idea that they are generic and can be applied to many elements instead of only a specific copy on a single page.
  • If your change requires changing class attributes on an element, please list it in your feedback so that it can be added to the element.
  • Colors on the site are mostly based on variables, so if you're using the color of another element, list which element you took the color from. If a new color is needed, please list the color, and how you obtained it(a lighter version of the text color, etc.)
  • If you believe that your change would make a good generic utility function, please specify what you would like to see it used for in the future.

Known caveats of the theme while it is being cleaned up:

  • There is way too much page specific CSS code on the site, and almost all elements are scoped too specifically.
  • There are essentially no class definitions on elements right now. As the theme is cleaned up this should improve.
  • There are some utility classes but they are not well documented or exported. Some of these can be found in the source code, but I don't currently have a list of utility classes to give you.
  • Theme changes are a lower priority than ensuring stability and operation of the site. Please be patient for review and implementation of changes.

Thanks,
~Kira

The new theme / site looks good, updating a bit but keeping the majority of the old layout.
One thing I don't like so far is the navbar. The e621 header being above the navbar creates a lot of empty, unused space. This makes the page feel a bit more cramped, pushing content down a bit.
I'd either make the header smaller, or move the navbar to the right of the header, similar to the old site, but with a bigger "logo".

EDIT: After exploring a bit more, and taking a look at mobile, I agree with Darkdevil below.

On desktop: There's a lot of spacing issues, things look cramped, the font size is larger which could cause things to look more cramped. There's a new box around the comments section that makes it look more cluttered, especially with the new "updated by" tags on the comments.

On mobile: Oh boy, not liking it much tbh. I know some stuff I'll have to get use to, but everything is SUPER cramped. The news header at the top is getting stuffed underneath the new "prev / next" bar, more empty space below that new bar. I do like the responsive theme on mobile, but again the text is a tad too large. Scaling the image to the screen size is nice.

Some small things that really don't matter: I miss the color of the rating on posts, the location of the fav button is weird, the little button next to the search bar is slightly below the search bar, causing a weird shadow and the height of the button is a bit off (a lot more noticeable on mobile).

These are kind of my initial thoughts on the theme, again, I know I'll get use to some stuff eventually, but a few things need to change (imo). Also mostly focusing on negatives, since this is a thread for stuff you don't like. (I don't hate it entirely :) )

Updated

The only thing I immediately dislike is the removal of the main screen. I really liked that dragon mascot by Evalion.

Not much of a fan of the new theme. Looks a bit too simple and barebones, the removal of hexagon aesthetic entirely is a bit jarring.
Also, I miss the home screen-

Mobile kinda squishes everything together (text, images, etc) on iOS. It's mostly the desktop version that I would rather see having kind of the old layout.

Have the same issue. The visual changes are okay though, really preferred the old one. Seems like it doesn't fit my chonkin monitor well.

Updated

Its a bit wonky, and there seems to be a few technical issues like blacklists not working and not being able to hide own comments. I don't know if id say it needs to be entirely reverted though. I think the issues can be ironed out.

Edit: I also definitely agree with the idea of giving an option of the old UI, as people below me are suggesting.

Updated

I'm okay with the visual changes, I just personally don't like that you need to be logged in to view certain things - e621 is used a lot when it comes to linking images of all kinds, and having some images requiring a login will ruin that, as not everyone wants to have an account.

I would suggest just having the images be unindexed when browsing, but being able to be seen when searched for specifically and when directly linked to - for people who are not logged in.

I would like the option to use classic E621 layout. No offense to the new one it's just a bit awkward to use for me.

I said the same thing about other sites that updated their interface. Deviantart, Furaffinity, Reddit, etc.

I couldnt agree more.

Im so used to the traditonal layout. This new version feels cramped and less flushed out like the old one. Can we please have the option to use the old layout?

One thing that bugs me is that on mobile some of the buttons arnt aligned right. They news tab is slighly larger than text lines, the search button feels rather cramped, ect.

New e621 not works on old devices. I can't see any image from ipad4 iOS 7.0.4

Not a fan, given how I always enjoyed the smooth and rather simplistic way the old lay-out looked. The new one looks very boxy and cluttered.

Furthermore, I liked seeing the Blips on my own page, a space which is now taken by a HUGE info page. Doesn't look very smooth either tbh.

Lastly, and most importantly for me, this new lay-out is NOT friendly to older browsers. I use both Firefox and IE and the browser suddently doesn't show the photo's anymore on the latter, forcing me to sign into the site with Firefox. I prefer using e6 on IE for personal reasons, so please fix this issue in the future.

That's all for now, I've got to use the site a bit more to figure out what's wrong with it exactly.

EDIT: Just tried the upload function, and I've got to say, the tags appearing are extremely helpful, but whenever I select the prefixed ones already shown to me, it's near impossible to distinguish whether or not I clicked on them. Same goes for the Safe/Questionable/Explicit features. A black line to distinguish the differences, or a different colour would be very much appreciated whenever I click on it.

EDIT 2: Another thing I really dislike about the new lay-out is the lack of uploader information. The old lay-out showed the date it was uploaded, as well as the user. The new one just says "over 9 years ago" and that's it. I'd like to see this feature return, as I found it just fine this way.

EDIT 3: Okay this one is REALLY annoying me so far. Whenever I select something from the menu that's now shown, I click on it and automatically expect it to send me to said tag. That however, does not happen and I have to tap Enter or click Search again to go to said tag. This is extremely annoying and should be fixed first and foremost.

EDIT 4: Reading through the comments, I absolutely agree that e621 should have an option to switch back to the old lay-out, similar to what FurAffinity and also DeviantART has done. I prefer using the old lay-out on both for practical reasons, and would switch to it in a heartbeat due to the many features it had.

Updated

Everything is messed up on smartphone... The popular button is not directly accessible. The UI is too big and look wrong everywhere. Please tell me it's a beta and we can revert this.

I've had a Windows Surface RT from 2013 for the last few years, and browsing on this site's always been quite convenient even though this tablet's become pretty dang antiquated. Unfortunately, I can't see any images now thanks to this new update. I can't see previews when looking up certain tags, and I can't even see anything if I find a link from elsewhere or click the random post button.

The website has become practically broken for me now, and while I completely understand why it's only the case for me using a stupid old tablet that was already considered useless less than two years after the fact, it's quite saddening that I can't browse round anymore.

With that in mind, I'd really appreciate the ability to go back to the old format, if only to see if I'll be able to see images again due to how the coding might work. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do. Maybe get a new laptop that I can actually download programs for? We'll see, I suppose...

Little request / suggestion. Fix the colour for the links on the pools page.
The colour scheme really doesn't work making it difficult to read. The standard light blue-ish colour is perfectly fine, the dark purple/pink colour just makes it grating to the eyes.

As for the view on desktop, there appears to be a lot of wasted space, not sure if it's just my resolution & stuff but there's uneven wasted space which offcenters everything.
Mobile doesn't feel too bad, the issue might stem from padding between images not being evenly distributed and instead fixed, so if there's just not enough room for another column it leaves an oddly large amount of unused space at the right side of the screen.
Another thing I've noticed, in comparison to the old design, is the lack of indentation over headers within the content at the left side. Small indentations after Search, Mode and Tags is a nice little visual thing that helps visually separate content.
I'm also note sure if the area with the pools links needs to span the full width of the screen, you have a small quantity of text, a fairly long area with nothing, then a single number showing the number of pages. Either try to include more details within this section or shrink it down a bit for desktop use. I can see it as fine for mobile devices but as for desktop it feels unnecessarily wide.

If anything though please.... Please fix the pools text colour.

Edit: So uhhh.... What happened to the ability to go to previous / next images within a pool anyway?
Kind of useful. Kind a useful.

Edit2: Wait we have custom css stuff in settings? Guess I'll be having fun at some point implemented most of these fixes (where possible) for me then.

Edit3: Oh heaven on earth that text colour is now so much better for pool links.

Edit4: Removed suggestion about making logo inline with nav bar since whenever you get a notice at the top of the screen it uses that space. (Like when settings have been saved.)

Updated

Can the distinction between GIFs and WEBMs on thumbnails be re-implemented? Currently it has been replaced with a "►" symbol, which feels like a step back, not being able to distinguish between the two without opening the post, especially if someone uploads an identical animation in both formats at once.

Kira on the discord server mentioned that the Popular button isn't going to be added to the main navbar. I made a tiny greasemonkey script that adds it back if you want it:
https://github.com/V01DFox/e621popular/blob/master/e621Popular.js

Edit:
This is no longer needed since they added it back on the navbar, do not use.

Updated

The option for whether or not you want your blacklist to apply to user's thumbnails is no longer available and it hides them by default. Any way to add that feature back in?

The text of everything is way too large, especially the home menu options. I’m not a fucking grandpa, I don’t need easy to read text options on a porn search engine!
I also really REALLY think there needs to be more space between the pictures, the visual clutter is really distracting and frustrating to read. E621 always had a good ease of use without talking down to you, and I really don’t want that to change.

Sup, can you please add a setting to give the option for people to go back to the old layout if you can? IMO, the layout seems fine and simple, but I belive it's important for people to have the option to switch either through preference, or stability. I personally use some scripts for the site via the violentmonkey extension, and they do not work on the redesign layout; only on the old.

The new layout basically ruined my workflow for tagging, I might as well stop now because everything I do takes about 50% longer.

Best chance we have now is community redesigns either with the built-in CSS style option (if that's possible) or other means like browser extensions. Because speaking from experience as soon as a new layout is out there's no hope of the old layout ever returning (like every other website (dA, YouTube etc.))

I agree. Setting the site zoom level in a desktop browser to 90% makes the text "normal" again.

wish i could use themes like in the old version.

The new UI is rather simplistic and rusty. While it is helpful that tags are bigger and can minimize the mistake of clicking one mistakingly, the ui just looks like a step backwards in terms of how it looks rather than a step forward. It looks old. The mobile version is worse. The size all of the images are grouped together and aren’t spaced that much, it looks cluttered and badly placed.

The Interface was perfect as is, there really wasn’t a need to change it. Unless you have a better one on the way. But then, why change it to the one we have now?

All in all this is a very unnecessary update

Updated

What broke. where are the themes. and why is everything blue. It so hard on the eyes. Bring back the black theme. I see no notice or pop up to indicate they were removing these features or updating things

EDIT: At least with Dark Reader browser extension, and it render mode set to static.....i can make this site black again. So at least that is one way to rid my eyes of this horrible new look.

Edit: I'm reading that you're requiring a login now too. Really? Isn't that counter to the basic way a booru works? Browsing is "free", posting and editing require login (at some point, I think even those were free and open, but I can see the need to counter spam/vandalism). Anyway, that's...really something.

Edit: And you removed the Popular tab? What?!

Edit: Man, I'm just a casual user. Reading the stuff from the power users (who are the reason a booru is able to exist and be useful), wow is this fucked.

Edit: Why would you remove all formatting shortcuts from text boxes? You can't take an idea like "simpler is better" and just blindly follow it. Context matters.

You've asked that feedback be polite and constructive, so I'll do my best. The new look is bad. Real bad. It's hard for me to articulate all of the issues in detail because I'm not a web designer or graphics artist, so a lot of it comes down to gut reaction. Here's just a few of the things I'm seeing though:

-Why don't images have any rounding on the corners anymore, or any border/padding from text?
-Why don't the fav bars under the images in search match the image widths?
-Why is the tag text so massive now?
-Why is there a submit button for the search box, and why is it not a matching color/design to the rest of the site, and why is it not integrated into the search box itself, or at least on the same horizontal line?
-Why is the image highlight for "pending" a nauseating half green half blue outline?
-Why is "E621" a massive text on its own line in the top corner now, scrambling the look of the top of the page?
-Why is there a massive "Search(none)" bar, in bright blue, above every image on its page, uglifying the image page?
-Why is the fav button for an image inexplicably a completely different style from all the other image options, and massive?

Again, this is just a brief sampling, based on tabs of the old site I still have open. I'm sure there's much more, but I don't have a photographic memory of the old site, nor am I a designer, so I can't give anywhere near a full run-down of the issues.

I'm trying to be as reserved as I can, but my honest reaction to this re-design is that it looks like it was done by someone who didn't know what they were doing, who didn't understand design very well. I'm not a chef, but I know when someone can't cook, because I know steak isn't supposed to be black and rock hard. None of this is meant as a personal attack. Being honest when there's a problem is also part of being constructive.

I'm also baffled by why this was needed. Was the old theme not compatible with new tech? Was it poorly maintained? Why a sudden re-design? Of all the issues I may have had with e621, the interface was rarely one of them.

If this is a work-in-progress and will be tweaked and improved, great. If we can just turn the old theme on again, also great, though it sucks that new users will default to this one. And ultimately, it's a porn site on the Internet. We'll all live regardless. It just sucks when an art site, where you go to look at pretty things, isn't as pretty anymore.

Updated

I would please like the popular tab back, to see whats the most popular art pieces of the day and such? this one doesn't fit my liking.

pools broken, plz fix.

much of an agreement wanting an old version setting because FA had a 'new' change and i hated it, but glad they allowed a revert to the old style. please do the same hopefully?

why not let us have these things or beta test this stuff before just doing it out right? i mean, I won't judge reasoning, but it always seems annoying that these changes are so sudden and its not really my kindof thing.

Agree, this is kinda sad to not see mascots anymore.

On topic, want to report that pool names are kinda unreadable from /pools/
https://i.imgur.com/z4AUI57.png

The quick tags don't work. It literally defeats the purpose of using them. I just want to see all my tags and click on the ones I want to add. Not go on a fucking treasure hunt to find out which tags didn't appear as a "related tag". Now instead of 1 minute, tagging now takes 20 minutes. I'm better off copy and pasting from a notepad than using this terrible treasure hunt tagging system. The buttons and multiple boxes also have absolutely no purpose but to make things more complex. You can even barely see when a button is selected. It goes from white to white with 1pt of yellow added.
This is another example of all software these days being designed by children. It happens time and time again.

So far, I haven't checked out the desktop theme.
The mobile theme seems extremely cluttered/cramped and maybe a little more "space" between posts when searching should be a thing to look into.
Comments being above tags when looking at an individual post seems awkward to me, I'd rather not scroll past a lot of comments on a more popular post before finally reaching the tags.

Blacklists and pools seem to have had issues, I attempted to find pools for comics I follow and that drew up a blank, even searching for pools to add into and the "see full list" function... This hasn't been helped by some of the older things in my favourites section just being shuffled back into the first few pages for whatever reason, even just things a few weeks back (which I have checked are not better copies of a post for example) I'm not sure if others may have had this issue, but it might need more looking into.

As some other people have suggested, an option to switch back to the old UI would be a good choice.
I'll most likely update when I can check out the Desktop version of this UI.

Is there a reason we lost the basic formatting shortcuts in the comment and forum post textboxes?

The uploader isn't listed on the post page or hover text anymore? How am I supposed to maintain my e-peen like this?

On the subject of hover text, you can't preview the forum threads with it anymore.

ivanonymousvi said:

Oh crap, you're right. I think this is an actual glitch since pools were visible on the post page in the beta along with the tag you accessed the post from.

On a related note, Parent and Child posts being listed underneath the image makes them hard to spot, especially since you shrank the text for them.

I LOVE that we can search up to 40 tags at a time now.
I HATE that we have an 80k fav cap. Not sure what it was before, but I'm already more than halfway to this cap. In my opinion there should be no limit, or a much higher limit. What with the decreased cache / requests needed for showing a list of users that fav'd a post, maybe put that toward a higher fav cap as well as the new tag search.

What I want to know is, what happens to the users who had SIGNIFICANTLY more than 80,000 favorites already(you know who you are)?

The new layout is fine, my #1 issue is the default anon blacklist of an arbitrary set of tags that are "commonly objected to", and being unable to see thousands of posts when logged out even after clearing this blacklist! :O

Edit: also won't those tags now be on that list forever due to underexposure caused by the auto-blacklist? o.O

Edit: I found more fault with the new Interface. It is very annoying that when you scroll left or right on an image it moves to the next/previous image. This is incredibly frustrating especially with large images.

When searching for images, images with a larger length than width ratio are stretched and have very poor resolution.

When looking at posts I cannot find the link that takes you to the pool they are in.

Can we get an option to switch back and forth between the UI's. Maybe after a year of testing and development you could switch over. But doing it all at once is always a bad idea.

If anything I just feel this was a bit rushed and am getting an under the rug development feeling from it. But, to be honest I do not at all use discord. So maybe more feedback and Q/A testing has been going on their discord for a few months now and I wouldn't know.

+/?/- feedback. * will add more over time.

+ALL in ALL it is still better of an update then tumblr's
+looks a bit clearer.

? Not sure site needed to be made mobile friendly, considering their are apps on the android store, (rip ios users), now that will most likely work much better then a browser on mobile ever will. Nice to see an attempt thou.

--- Pools a little srewey atm and I cannot find how to find the pool a post in contained in on posts page.
- Front page needs to be reinstated.
- Can the Parent/Child relationship links be put back up below the search bar and above the tags, do not at all like them being at the bottom of the posts.
- Search Prev/Next bar that appears over ads. Ads might be better places above any/all content for post. Pending approval bar also appears over ads.
- Suggest for browsing on Desktop you make use of the extra landscape space. Currently the tag-box width has a set limit so long tag wrap downward.
- edit, download, and favorite links below post should be removed. Considering they already exist on the context bar.

Should I just screenshot these and share them on discord?

+1 For landing page, one of my favourite things about e6. Being able to login and head to inbox without flooding your monitor with NSFW.
"Uploader name is not shown on the posts page." For inferior/duplicates, I always contact uploaders first so they can replace their own posts, rather than just giving them strikes. There are other cases where reaching the uploader is useful, but for me it has always been to help them.
"Some posts cannot be viewed without logging in based on which tags are applied to them." Requiring registration is never good in my books.
Layout density seems to have taken a downturn. I get it, you want to use all the space available to you, but do not confuse spacing things with "using" space. Consider loading 2 columns of some things (like messages) to increase density again. Human focal point is small, english text goes left to right, but word wrapping permits much faster scanning/reading, though it may mess up pacing at times.
This forum in particular is tremendously jarring on a large screen, text stretches nearly from one side to the other.

The 'download' button's new(?) functionality, seems redundant... actually, seems to have removed a feature really liked/needed.

So, before today, the old download button would simply change your current window to be the full-screen page of the main picture, and that was great.

But, now the new one opens it in an entirely separate window... This doesn't seem like a big problem, basically the same... But it's actually not only deeply redundant--As you can already right (Or long, for mobile users) click images and open in a new tab--but it was actually a massive feature-removal for some use cases, and, personally, the main reason I picked e621 over other booru-style sites and even FA for pictures.

You can easily end up opening a massively large volume of pictures, in the dozens to hundreds, each time you really need to search for, or find something specific, on the site... or if you take a few hours to do your business ( <.< )... and this of course has effectively DOUBLED the number of tabs you need to have open if you both want to be able to view the picture full screen AND keep open the source page for tags/artist-links and other kinds of stuff... (Before it was simply a matter of hitting back to go back to the page, you can't do that from freshly opened new-tabs) Not to mention--since the source page is probably much more resource intensive than just the picture page--it'll be pushing RAM for Chrome users even higher, MORE than doubling.

I'm not asking for a new feature to be disabled cause I don't like it, only pointing out that it's actually a removal of a feature if you think about it (Again, you can right/long press images and open them in a new tab already)... one that I'd like to see reverted.

Is there a way to turn off the "swipe left/ right to change picture" I keep accidentally changing pictures when I'm trying to scroll down or zoom into the picture in question.

This is my biggest issue with new site

I really liked the old homescreen and seeing the mascots behind the searchbar. im fine with the rest of the changes, removing the homescreen isnt something i agree with

Suggestion: a read-only snapshot of the old design somewhere please, like old.e621.net or something, for comparison and for pulling useful parts of the theme back.

Also a bit of immediate feedback, zebra-striping in forum_topics looks awful. It needs to be toned down, or better yet removed altogether. At least for desktop clients, dunno how it's on mobile.

I previously used the "Bloodlust" theme with the "Hexagon" addition, as I like using the dark/night mode on pretty much every website. As soon as you guys can allow us to use a dark theme again, I'll be satisfied.

I used a lot of Favorite-mode and it was a calming shade of green
but now it's a really ugly damp yellow >.<

and what happened to the designed backgrounds, now it's just blank

What happened to pools? They exist but I cannot navigate them anymore, next/prev just goes from like post 111111 to 111112
edit: found how they work, it's based on search terms and pool selection from the pool list a the top. Still bad and no way to tell if a pool or parent/child posts are available to an image through traditional viewing like before.

It's also a lot harder to both upvote and favorite. Something I used to be able to do within 2 seconds of each other, now I have to scroll and be even more accurate. Derpibooru does a thing where a fav automatically upvotes and the buttons are always next to each other. There's a few posts where I don't do both however.

Would like to differentiate between Webm and Gif, they're the exact same thumbnails now and I find them to be easily missable, unlike previously.

While the autofill suggestions in the search box are neat, it doesn't take stuff I've previously typed and entered anymore, which was one of my main methods of returning to a tag for updates.

I honestly want a legacy mode now, don't pull a Steam Library and make the site harder to use and less appealing for the sake of change.

Yeah, I dunno, guys, this one doesn't feel like it's done baking yet. There's a lot of things that seem like they haven't been considered at all.
- Full screen width comment fields
- White text on bright blue in the comment fields,
- Increased font size on the tag list causing forced page breaks because it's too wide for the field it's in
- A lot of spacing issues
- There's a full screen width bar at the top of any post that has a next button on one side of the screen and a previous button on the other
- Pools are completely missing
- You've increased the font size and at the same time managed to make it less readable (tag lists especially) because of the font choice
- The +FAV button is the only button on the site that looks like it does, and it's huge and terrible for some reason
- Why is there a Posts link at the top of the page just above the posts, that links to the page you're on?
- Things would look a lot cleaner if all the thumbnails were bottom-aligned on their respective rows, keeping the upvote/fav/comments bar in register throughout
- The search bar is casting a shadow onto the search icon
- Wouldn't it be better to have the E621 header text in line with the two bars below it? Y'know, to save vertical space?
- There are now two indicators for when a comment was posted, unnecessarily.

I know a lot of design ideology these days is aimed primarily at mobile, but you HAVE to put a width limiter on certain things, imagine being on an ultrawide monitor and having to read through a 40" long text string? Exaggeration, of course, but it's a genuine issue, I myself have problems reading long text lines because my eyes jumble the lines together. There are also far better ways of having a forward and backward function than to place it over top of the image area. Put it back under the search bar and make it more clear and obvious instead. That way you don't need to put the search text in there, you'll have it right above.

I can't make CSS, but I can make mockups if y'all want, am a graphic designer by trade.

Wow, I didn't even notice that Posts link. Not far from the old Posts tab, which does exactly the same thing even if you're already on the Posts page. Two identical UI links an inch apart. Who thought this was a good idea? What is going on?

Also, for those who haven't yet, take a look at a user page. Those are some...unique layout choices. Constructive criticism: maybe on an art site, the art should take up more than 1/5th of the space on a profile.

Wow you managed to make Feretta mad, now we just gotta wait for they other 2 and the unholy trinity of lust will be complete.

Oh I'm not mad..

I'm just disappointed. ;D

Also, one more to add:
- Hitting reply just made me scroll to the top of the page.

The only thing I immediately dislike is the removal of the main screen. I really liked that dragon mascot by Evalion.

Was thinking exactly the same thing, it was a nice front page for the site and being able to pick the mascot was neat. Would love to see it make a return, possibly.

I never realized how much I would miss the hexagon theme until it was suddenly removed..

Really wish that we had been given the option to change back to the old theme if we wanted too.

Most of the constructive feedback I could offer has already been covered, but I really want to throw another voice into the "give me an option for the classic e621 theme and layout."

The new design is jarring, the layout doesn't seem quite right, text-field widths are off causing page breaks like crazy. This feels more like a beta than a "new" version, and it really needs some more work before it replaces what we had.

Already went and disabled the mobile "improvements." (forced mobile site by default, swiping left/right, etc. Hard pass.)
(For those looking for these settings: Account > Settings > Advanced, search/F3 for "gestures" & "responsive" and set both to Yes.)

+1 to any comment asking for what FA did, with allowing us to still use the classic layout and whatnot. This new theme is, by comparison, pretty bland, flat and overall kind of a visual downgrade in my eyes.
I like what I know, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this.

I do think the multicolored frames around some search results are kinda neat, though.
