Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: malo -> scp-1471-a

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #58908 malo -> scp-1471-a has been rejected.

Reason: Malo would be the name of the application refered as "SCP-1471", full name: "MalO ver1.0.0"
While SCP-1471 is the application itself, SCP-1471-A is described as entity in said SCP.

For as long as I can remember, the community got used to describe / shorten SCP-1471-A by calling it Malo. As such, an alias of both would be appropriate.

And to go further, the tags "Malo", "SCP-1471-A" & "SCP-1471" should probably all be considered the same.

EDIT: The tag alias malo -> scp-1471-a (forum #345020) has been rejected by @bitWolfy.

"Malo" should be disambiguated, since there are a number of characters with the name.

Sorry, I'm not an E621 and neither is English my native language. What does "disambiguated" means exactly as well as the meaning/utility of it on E621?

Then in this case I feel it'd be better to have the alias for SCP-1471-A -> SCP-1471

Is there a way to do so here rather than create a new post for it?

Basically it means to alias malo to malo_(disambiguation), which would have a wiki explaining the name "Malo" is ambiguous and could refer to different things.

You can create a BUR with the alias request and use this thread's topic ID (35327) for the "Forum topic" field to have it appear in this thread.

I think I managed to do it. See right above.

You did it correctly. Good job. :) However, it's throwing up an error because Versperus had made the same alias request four months ago. Also, your own alias request at the start of this thread would block it as well since we can't alias away a tag that another tag is aliased to. However, since Watsit suggests malo ought to be disambiguated, the latter problem can be fixed by simply rejecting the opening alias request and making a BUR

alias malo -> malo_(disambiguation)
category malo_(disambiguation) -> invalid

although acceptance of disambiguations is rather unclear right now.

(When a tag is ambiguous on e621, that means a tag could be applied to several different things. As such, the tag need to be disambiguated so we can tell each thing apart and find one particular thing instead of other things using the same tag. Thus, the tag is turned into a disambiguation tag and the things it was applied to are given tags that better separate them from the others, such using as suffixes.)
