Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: tiny_being -> tiny_(disambiguation)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #69077 tiny_being -> tiny_(disambiguation) has been approved.

Reason: Yet again we run into the issue of a single user, dissatisfied with a disambiguation, forcing a new useless tag until it picks up minor reuse from users who don't know any better.
Yet again, it's a tag that does not sufficiently carve out an actual niche for itself. To quote the wiki...

Commonly a small, round-shaped conscious creature.

They can posses any type of genitals but mostly are presented with human penises.

Humans can have horse cocks, orb creatures can have humanoid vulvas, any character with nipples can have penile nipples, why does this matter?

EDIT: The tag alias tiny_being -> tiny_(disambiguation) (forum #398328) has been approved by @slyroon.

As funny as I find this whole uwu update, I think I'm going to refrain from voting on any requests until it's gone. I'm not masochistic enough to actually try to read and digest this.

Cleaning this up. Chao can remain big head humanoids, Kirby can be a waddling head, but I never actually got any opinions on this so I'll ask again:
Is a typical Boo (Mario) enough of a deviation to not be a sphere creature? What kind of name would we use for characters of this shape?
post #4344832 post #4078783 post #2925869 post #3847167 post #1671357
irregular sphere creature? armed sphere creature? tailed sphere creature? If we adopt the first one, should waddling heads also occasionally count as irregular sphere creatures?

How about mostly_spehre_creature (like mostly_nude)?

I feel like using the word "sphere" is a bit restrictive, because like post #2436648.

personally I've been leaning towards going with something along the lines of head_creature or living_head.

I've been thinking about this for a while, actually. because I feel like this could probably be a coherent form category, to fill in some of the gaps we've currently got. but I'm not really sure where it'd be best to draw the lines.

The bulk update request #7628 is pending approval.

create alias waddling_head (4733) -> head_creature (0)
create alias bipedal_head_creature (0) -> biped_head_creature (0)
create implication biped_head_creature (0) -> head_creature (0)
create implication armless_head_creature (0) -> head_creature (0)
create implication legless_head_creature (0) -> head_creature (0)
create implication sphere_creature (692) -> head_creature (0)
create implication biped_head_creature (0) -> biped (423189)
create implication armless_head_creature (0) -> armless (2306)
create implication legless_head_creature (0) -> legless (13547)

Reason: Okay, here's a BUR proposal instead. Maybe this'll find more success.

  • Kirby, Boo, and Ghastly are all vaguely similar in form, but there are important distinctions between them.
  • Boos are completely incapable of walking, but still have meaningful deviations from a spherical form. There are also other ghosts and non-ghosts who share similar deviations.
  • Kirby can walk, and has multiple deviations from a spherical form. There are also characters like Pac-Man who have these same deviations but are not directly related to Kirby.
  • Ghastly, when portrayed on-model, is just a sphere.
  • If more specific tags are needed, like a cube creature (I 'unno, Minecraft?), we can add the parent tag head creature to the relevant posts until implications for the new subtags are approved.

  • Would "legged" and "legless" be preferred over "walking" and "floating"?

if we're going to have walking and floating we'd probably also want to have rolling to round heh it out, I'm not sure how many we have but I can think of a few Mario enemies that are just rolling heads.

...
EDIT: actually, yeah, maybe legged and legless would be better it'd leave more room to tag stuff with different methods of locomotion because stuff like paragoombas.

bob-ombs and goombas could fill an additional niche of "armless_head_creature" so I'm gonna go ahead and change the split to biped/armless/legless instead of walking/floating.

what if we call it bipedal_head_creature instead

It doesn't terribly matter either way, but bipedal sounds more grammatically correct.

The trend is to use biped rather than bipedal.
And the remaining bipedal is being aliased to biped

Biped is a noun. Bipedal is an adjective. Adjectives describe nouns. The other tags you mentioned (with the exception of biped_taur, which I think should also be changed) are using biped as a noun, which is correct. This tag is trying to use a noun to modify another noun, which isn’t really ideal when an adjectival form exists. Grammatical correctness takes precedence over using the same exact word form regardless of context. That’s also how we’ve always done it. See penile_penetration instead of penis_penetration, vaginal_penetration instead of pussy_penetration, oral_vore instead of mouth_vore, detailed_background instead of detail_background, etc.

I think biped_taur is fine since all of the other *_taur tags are in the form of <noun>_taur.

but otherwise I agree.

Perhaps. Most of those taur tags are species tags which follow the same format as all of the (species)_humanoid tags. This makes more sense, because you can’t really come up with an adjectival form for most species. They’re more like compound nouns - "cat taur" is simply the name of the species itself, not "taur" modified by "cat." However, biped isn’t a species, so I don’t think it necessarily needs to follow the same logic. I’d also prefer to make biped_taur a general category tag instead of species. I’d say it’s just describing the character’s bodily arrangement rather than being an actual species in its own right.
