This seems like a mess because boyfriends by itself implies a gay couple but girlfriend+boyfriend implies a straight couple to most people, for example. Never mind the fact that this is blatantly not true. This is another "read my mind" tag.

Not necessarily, they could have multiple girl/boyfriends in the case of polygamy or polyamory

I think the thought behind invalidating girlfriends was probably the fact that the word "girlfriends" can refer to both a romantic couple and a group of platonic friends.

also umm, I just realized... has romantic_couple always implied romantic? that seems odd to me.

shrug. It could work as one, but we were sticking to the status quo of keeping the tags as invalid

Husband can probably just alias to married_couple. I don't really see why romantic_couple needs to be a lore tag? It seems perfectly viable as a TWYS tag as-is.
