Topic: Regarding YCH

Posted under Art Talk

I've been wondering about this for a while, what is the sites stance towards YCH (Your Character Here) posts?

While some of them have some artistic value, they are still crude sketches, which I thought we aren't supposed to upload.
I was also wonder, does YCH go against the advertisement rule? Never really understood that one.
Just been wondering about this. And in the end, if it is allowed, artists may be more drawn to E6 as a platform for them to spread their art, but on the other hand we might just get flooded with YCH posts.

If we aren't flooded with them now, I don't see why we'd see a surge in YCH any time soon.
Besides, despite being raw sketches most of them are pretty good. I say we keep them.

If they don't look like crap I don't see why not

Kinda counts as advertising, does it not?

Although, as you said as well, there is artistic value in some of them

The flooding of dakimakura posts a while back seems to show that advertising with posts is absolutely fine.

If I'm not mistaken, advertising in posts / descriptions is allowed, as long as it's connected to the artist / commissioner / something like that, and it still has artistic value to it. If it's more art than ad, it's OK. If it's mostly ad with just a hint of artwork, it's not.

Correct. We want the artist to be able to advertise their efforts via the image itself, and the description. Doing it anywhere else, or non-artists advertising their stuff is not cool.

YCH is fine, so long as it doesn't look like crap. If it's low-quality, then it'll get taken down like the rest.
