  • You know that part when Spongebob was saying goodbye to the Krabby Patty and Plankton was like "Yess, YESS"?
    I'm Plankton right now.

This is not towards anyone particularly, but there are now so many artists who use this exactly same model and they all look the same to me. If someone blanked out the artist tag, I couldn't tell if this was splatypi, f-t-rabbit, adamb/fluffy, rubber_(artist), foxidro or pahanrus2.

Thats just the nature of a character model. Models are in an odd position where they are both art for the person who created it and a tool to anyone else...
But at its core a model is a tool. And like any tool its what you do with a tool that makes art....

Though i must say i don't really disagree with your statement. Its just an odd thing to say outloud considering the medium. IMO.

It is a pretty good argument for keeping assets to your chest though.

Because that's the thing which made me comment. Really often I can pretty much see nowdays picture and go "oh, I think this must be X." and I'm usually correct. But with Judy used artwork I just can't, maybe with Rubber.

i mean not to be an ass to the artists in question.... but they are literally just posing a premade asset XD... im not sure how you expect them to put there own flare on that.....some of the better ones in question have very good lighting and animation to really make this model pop... but that in of itself wouldn't really be a calling card.

i understand you are looking at this from the point of view of a moderator... err janitor in this case. and having such an over saturation is frustrating to you when you have to manually approve every post. i get it i really do.
but this is kind of like baby steps on there path to being a CG artist... its a popular well made model that is easily accessible... working with it is a pretty good learning tool.

i see it no different to the exploratory sketches a traditional artist may do when they are studying photos or objects to help hone there craft before they have found a style...

anyway, im truly sorry if im being annoying here. i really don't have a horse in this specific race.... just wanted to share my thoughts on the matter i guess.
