If I recall correctly from a handbook I got as a kid, Vaporeon can already melt into water, this really shouldn't have any effect.

That's by an unknown artist. It is not the official canon story.

Ok, so, I had a good rummage around the pokedex to see what I could find that might save this vaporeon, and, turns out, there was a slight mistranslation on an older entry. Instead of being able to camouflage themselves in water, that entry was supposed to say that they can literally liquefy themselves on command. This little fish-fox is gonna be fine, honestly, they'll probably have fun even!

To be honest, thank goodness because I can't even lie, if that second image was the official continuation, it would completely ruin it for me, haha.
I just wish that there was an official continuation image or two that showed the blending process and maybe the result too. :3
