so at one time in the comic, (I cant remember what chapter/page, but it was following the B group, after Sythe found Nibbly) someone made reference to how sometimes young dragons disguise themselves as wildlife to explore the world in secret, and Sythe asks his pet squirrel if she was a dragon. It was played off for comedic effect... but c'mon. Aaaand, the ears in the lower left corner of the picture look an awful lot like squirrel ears... (okay and also I remember an old patreon sketch where that coffee girl says some shit like "the squirrel is the answer to everything" or something like that)
And if that makes me crazy, then call me Gnarls Barkley
