to be fair, we've only ever seen her character in the context of her and Amon having a long-established relationship, with all the boundaries and power balances and stuff being well understood on both ends. We've never really seen her in a context that would call for overtly expressed compassion and nurturing care. She's being the best thing she can get to being a good mom right now: a good friend.
