"Reni Returns"

Sketch of the 1085th page of TwoKinds.

Transcript

Maren: Seems like everyone’s here. I’m gunna go find a drink.

Karen: Hang on! Reni’s not back yet!

Reni: Erm… I’m here.

Karen: Huh? Wha— …Reni?

Reni: H-hi…

Reni: This… is the current version of my human form. It’s still a work in progress!

Karen: Woah, that’s so cool! I thought dragons could only turn into animals?

Reni: We can be human, though it’s hard not to look off in some way. Most just don’t out of pride. I think— eh?!

POKE! POKE!

Karen: You forgot two things.

Maren: Karen! Boundaries!

Reni: Oh, yeah…

Reni: Well, I did consider other sizes in the past, but I’m not a mammal, so I could never tell if I got them right. Besides, being on two legs is strange enough without being top-heavy too.

We have sexy mama nora and now we have adorable little Reni. I approve of all of this!

Now that I think about it she’s way more human than Nora, who still has dragon arms and legs, plus the tail and usually wings. Reni only has her horns still.

Now you brought it up I have been thinking that was likely an intentional choice by Nora.

Reni mentioned that her "current" human form is still "a work in progress", implying that they don't have a set human form and can change it as they feel like (she even remarked that she has tried multiple breast sizes but has no frame of reference so she can't tell if she is making them too big or too small), and that while a dragon taking on a human form will still be a little off in some ways, most dragons don't do it out of pride rather than not being able to or not being able to do it well.

Nora is a pretty proud dragoness and the highest regarded one even among other dragons, not to mention she has little to fear of anyone knowing who she really is. She likely keeps the tail and other features intentionally both out of pride and out of showing off who she really is even in a human form.

In those (admittedly non-canon) sketches where she assumed a feline Keidran form, she was almost completely Keidran other than having tiny horns (and accidentally giving herself all-white fur for a race that does not have pure-white fur) so Nora can definitely can do away with the dragon arms/legs/tail if she wanted, and considering that Reni's human form here also has horns, I am guessing that part that tends to be "off" is that hiding the horns is difficult if not near impossible for the dragons to do.

  • TendoTwo talked about dragons turning into humans

IIRC, another reason TK-dragons don't turn into human(oid)s, is because they have trouble balancing on two legs

Yeah, I remember that being an early sketch, but that seems to have been abandoned as a lot of additional sketches of Nora and/or Reni in human or some other bipedal form have been shown without having much difficulty walking. I think it was originally stated that they kept their mass regardless of size/shape too but that seems to have been abandoned as well.

"Tom explained it this way: Basitins, Humans and Keidrans are associated with Masks. Taking the form of these three races, she also subject to the influence of Masks. Therefore, she avoid taken these forms. Half-Basitin, Half-Human, Half-Keidran is okay, but not pure forms."

I'm just quoting iliar from another post where I raised the same question as to why Nora never goes full human or full Keidran.

If I recall correctly it had something to do with the humans being "Tom explained it this way: Basitins, Humans and Keidrans are associated with Masks. She seems to pushing MORE than "half". All she has left of her dragon features are her horns. The masks must be licking their "lips". x3
