Actually, it would be almost impossible for a tongue ring to get caught in fur.

For a tongue ring to snag, the fur would need to be somewhat long and unkempt. It would need to knot, otherwise there wouldn't be any place for the ring to get caught on.

Even if it did happen, unless you were moving with a lot of force and speed, it would only be a minor discomfort. You'd pull out a few strands of hair or break a knot before you'd rip out a piercing.

So really, the worst thing you'd have to worry about is coughing up a hairball later.

And that is a -small- price to pay for some of that....
