There's only the flag code, which isn't a law. The code is just like a "hey guys, be really cool if you did all this" but no one follows it. The perfect example is American flag beach towels or articles of clothing, which are against this very code while also viewed as patriotic.

Ain't that specifically in referral to using the literal actual flag as such? Don't think it was against anything to use just the flag pattern on anything.

And believe me, I LOVE pointing that out to people. Almost as much as going up to this big dude at the store who was wearing a red white and blue cowboy had, but it was just three bars and telling him that it was the French tricolor. He looked like he wanted to rip it right off his head. I told him it was all good, though. After all, since we wanted to dust up with the English, the French were more than happy to pour resources into the Revolutionary War, sending us arms and supplies. So if you think about it, without France there likely wouldn't even BE a united states of america. I finished bagging my groceries and left the chump blue screening at the checkout. Made my day.

Nah,desecrating of the flag is allowed to many other Western "progressive" countries as long as it's your country's flag. But don't you dare doing the same for certain flags (like LGBT and Israel flag) or you'll end up to jail immediately.
