When the main 6 characters for MLP were being designed, Pinkiepie was originally a white pegasus with blond hair named Surprise. Surprise is even the first word she ever says in MLP: FiM.

I believe that was a stab at both Dragonball and MLP. As sajajin's hair color goes blonde when they go super sajajin and Surprise is a pegasus, meaning she has "more power" than her earth pony compatriot.
