But no, she's been acting like she can handle him since day one of meeting him (kind of interesting how this comic compressed multiple days early on) so I'm a little frowny at the dialogue here making it seem like she really doesn't know.

To be TOTALLY FAIR, if we figure the scrub didn't take that long, and acknowledge the puddle between the bath and the bed, we can assume that it hasn't been all that long since she was actually introduced to her task. Of course she's going to have been insisting she can take it, she's a courtesan. It's literally her job.

You know, that's valid. And she's a female hyena, and 'back down' isn't really in their vocabulary (and that seems in keeping with the character to date!). It just struck me as a 'Seriously? This is only NOW occuring to you?' line, and normally I wouldn't mind except the rest of the dialogue has been such a delight that I found it really jarring.

It could also be that she's known the entire time, put it off to tease him and is playing it off as "I just thought of it" to seem more playful and spontaneous.

Thanks all of you who tossed input on this at me. I am usually used to seeing VERY high quality writing from Zummeng and I guess I was just put out because of my own interpretation of it. I appreciate seeing you guys' views.
