Description

"Kathrin in Trouble"

Sketch of the 1145th page of TwoKinds.

Transcript

Kathrin: I know Rose said we didn’t have to… But I’d feel bad leaving all this work for her.\

Kathrin: Sigh… Not sure if I can get this blood out, though…

Kathrin: I’m worried about Zen. He puts on an act, but his infection is getting worse. He’s got to stop sneaking out of bed and reopening the wounds. He needs to take it easy.

RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE

Kathrin: Huh? What was that? I wonder if Natani and the others are training.

Kathrin: They should take it easy too! Natani just recovered. Tsk, those two really are siblings.

Romulus: Excuse me.

Romulus: I’m sorry, it seems I’m a bit lost. Could you please direct me to Zen’s room?

Romulus: The name’s Romulus, by the way.

  • Huh.

You know I somehow did not see this coming.

Mainly because I somehow completely forgot Kat was not with everyone else

    This complicates things a bit

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Kat should react quickly with a kick in the wolf's balls?, It worked for mrs. nibbly (although technically that was a biting).

  • Imagine. Your friends are fighting stone dragons in one room, your bud is getting fireballs tossed at him, there's a freakin dragon in the dungeon fighting a psychopath, there's an amnesiac overlord fighting a failed experiment, and you are completely oblivious and repairing curtains and the one thing that catches your attention is this big boi behind you asking for directions... Not gonna lie...

    Absolutely relatable.

Shoulda known Tom would do the standard "dramatic event about to happen" scene switch.

To his credit, this will read pretty nicely once the chapter is done (in like 4 years)

I've been a fan of Tom and 2K for a decade+ now, but he overuses some things, such as this. It's gotten to the point where it seems like it's not just to leave the reader hanging (and hang we do, since he's slowed the comic down to 1 page per two weeks) but also because it means he doesn't have to do a complicated action scene.

After so many years of this, it feels really cheap. And because he uses it at practically every dramatic part, is really aggravating at this point.

I can see why that might be

But also consider that, as was made to light before, Tom also tends to write as the reader's respond

As a result he likely needs time to plan out scenes in the future. If it's written off the cuff as it seems to be I imagine he has to buy himself time to come up with more plot

If it flows well afterward so much the better. Personally I envy his skill a bit to keep people invested despite what frustrates them about his writing style.

Seriously? There is literal Hell going on in the mansion at the moment, yet Kathrin has remained blissfully unaware of it this whole time?
I find that extremely hard to believe.

    Yeah that's kinda weird.

Also lol at trained assassin having to ask for directions. Clovis really does hire nothing but idiots I'm amazed they manage to get anything done.

It Is aggravating how incredibly slow the story is. We’ve been on the same day for a couple years now. Meanwhile he churns out tons of sketches and half a dozen full color images a month. The comic itself almost seems to be an afterthought at this point.

My feeling, too. With Patreon he gets paid for random things and doesn't have to bother doing fully-colored pages every time, nor does he have to write an actual story for most of them. The main comic makes little (ads), requires more work. He's going where the money is, so it's become secondary.

  • Okay, all joking about actual sex in the comic aside (not happening, admit it)...

Romulus looks like a HANDSOME bugger in that last panel, doesn't he?
