News: Feb 26, 2025 Show

Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.
Further information on the bill itself can be found at the Free Speech Coalition: https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2112/

Silly protegens, you can't run away from windows update. Unless you're in a Faraday cage.

Or if you alter Group Policy so windows HAS to be allowed to download and/or install updates, regardless of how important they are.

  • Movie idea: Protogen goes about their daily life, ignoring the update notification. Finally, they give in. "Ugh... Alright, just a quick little update..." They say before shutting down for the update...

Only to wake up into a far, post-apocalyptic future!

protogens are too limoted... go for synth species form vadersan, much more open to do

Or just make your own cybernetic species. Doesn't have to be protogen or synth. Better yet, just take your own character you have, if you have one, and cyborg them!

Please for the love of god don't do that, windows updates need to be installed after 30 days for a reason. Braindead tech illiterate people not updating for months is exactly how Wannacry happened. You can't keep blaming microsoft for all of your own problems.

I saw a video of someone downloading and activating Windows XP on a computer this year, at least it won't get updates anymore.

  • Robots getting wiped out by updates

This gave me a flashback to the "gardener in the dark" storyline from FreeFall (links below), where the robot people society therein is threatened by a program that practically lobotomises the robots to make them safer to have around humans
Worth reading, but a warning in advance:
to understand what's going on, you'll need to read ~1600 Garfield-size comics before it becomes the subject,
and the chapter takes ~1000 Garfield-size comics before reaching a conclusion
and the comic is still going to this day, leading to a collection of 3500+ strips

    FreeFall links:
front page with latest page (spoilers!)
    first page
endless scrolling version (starts on first comic and shows all comics until you reach the newest one)
And i LOVE the 90ies webdesign that loads in 0.5 seconds
