    I always wondered how the concept of "being in heat" would apply to an intelligent and conscious being. Would it be like the smut we're used to see? Or reasoning and self awareness would take higher priority over hormones.
    Guess it all depends on the individual, but still.

    Basically as you said. Honestly I always saw it as puberty hits you again. For some, your drive is insane and a can of soup is stupid sexy. Others it's all awkward, or some not much changes. Mentally at least

    It would probably vary by species too. I imagine it would be more intense for leopards and other solitary big cats, since the only time females show any kind of sex drive is when they're in estrus. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, you'd have animals that are more humanoid in their reproductive behavior and show a consistent, relatively moderate sex drive regardless of ovulation.
