I'm leaning toward grenade launcher. Some superficial resemblance to aa12, but that's really not a "heavy" weapon unless you're only concerned about anti-personnel.

Also... Yeah, I'm sold. Is this a comic I've somehow missed?

dimensions of drum/Barrel suggest that it is a grenade launcher, allignment of the drum under the barrel and the ejection window suggest, that whatever ammunition is used, it has shells.

Most grenade launchers do use shelled grenades, but also a revolver setup (like the South african MGL) or lately internal magazines (very shotgunlike). So... guessing from the dimensions... maybe it is a 20mm, 25mm, 26mm or 30mm grenade used, but for sure not the 40mm of the MGL or 45mm of the dual barrel DP-64.
