Hell it sounds like she's implying she is pregnant again here, perhaps this causes a miscarriage and she feels like she needs to leave. I aint much for the car crash kinda theory. With how their mom talks, she seems to be the one to get up and leave her life behind because she is upset with her husband. I mean, it happens in the real world all the damn time. Mothers abandon their kids and live different lives without caring for their kids or ex-husband. Calling herself "just the girl you knocked up" speaks to me that she doesnt feel lile she belongs in this family and should be elsewhere. With a man she would actually love.

Granted this comic is like 7ish years old but I dont ever recal Serah, Seb, or Keith mentioning or hinting at some kind of horrific accident that lead to the death of their mother. HOWEVER we have heard Jayden say something along the lines of "I have seen worse relationships and couples." People are also jumping to conclusions without even hearing the full story. "Why is this taking place in a car?" Isnt enough for justifaction that leads to a car crash. They are traveling home from the family portrait they took. There is nothing out of the norm for that. You all mean to tell me that you never heard your parents argue in the car while they thought you were sleeping? Serah's mom isnt done talking yet and can still say something horrid and rough that really cements Serah's mind into thinking she had a hand in the divorce.

As far as Serah's feelings for her mother. Her vibes and emotions have lead to the "child feeling they had a fault in the divorce" kind of thing and not a survivor's guilt kinda thing. As for Keith's tail and ear, who knows? Dude was shown to be a drunk for a good while. He probably had seen a fight or two. Dude has had a rough life.

Just my two cents. I really think yall are super off the mark with this car crash theory. Not saying I am correct however. This is just my hunch.

I highly doubt its a retcon. With how consistantly good this comic has been, I dont think BK would do that. The biggest piece of evidence I have that says its not a car crash was the talk between Serah and Jayden. How Jayden said she has seen worse couples and relationships. If Serah's mom did truly die in some sort of car crash, that would have 100% been mentioned between their heart to heart moment. Besides, a car crash is not the vibe of BK. I dont think even Ratcha would do something like that.

I don't think it'll be a car crash either. It just wouldn't make to much sense unless, like I mentioned before, stuff were retconned. The kids not remembering such a horrific accident would already be a hard sell, but a accident that ONLY kills the wife and "hardly" injures the Dad while leaving the kids basically uninjured? Who’s to say the Twins don’t remember the crash? Just because no one has mentioned it in one particular week years after the accident doesn’t mean they don’t remember it. On top of that Seb is asleep, so he likely wouldn’t remember the crash itself but just the aftermath. Also how do you know if the twins were uninjured? It could be that everyone was injured but only the mom dies while the rest recovered. Of course this is all assuming the car crash theory is correct.

The reason I’m starting to lean into the car crash theory is because why would BK choose for this flashback to take place in a car? If the parents got divorced then why not have this conversation take place at home in the kitchen or on the couch? BK deliberately chose for this flashback to take place in a car and I think that’s him setting up for a car crash. The question I have now is why does Serah think it’s her fault?

IIRC it's mostly the tip that's notched and damaged. BK's been deliberately keeping the full ears out of picture in these flashback panels.

Could be the not wanting to use the word. Took me about 6 or 7 years to say my wife was dead as opposed to a euphemism as passed or left us etc.

When you know you're not the first choice, it's hard not to feel threatened, especially when the exotic dancer with questionable morals hangs around her husband, with whom he had a less responsible past.

Because kids often blame themselves for parents splitting up, even without cause. It's one reason why people stay together while miserable, "for the kids." Which leads to its own set of issues...damned if you do damned if you don't.
