MemberInteresting fact: Many animals who live in cold temperatures have an evolutionary tool called Countercurrent Exchange, which prevents frostbite and temperature loss in their extremities by running veins and arteries together. That way the heat from the blood coming from the heart is partially transferred to the blood returning to it. This enables a better blood flow which in turn prevents tissue death, the main cause of frost bite.
