I'm not going to lie. I may have skimmed over the comic a little too briefly but I don't understand the artists' choice to end the comic with a nuclear explosion, given it was mostly about a couple having sex.

Is it part of the "message"? Is there a back story I'm missing? I don't like complex thinking while reading a comic.

And then the ending made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

A nuclear bomb dtopping is likely the scariest thing a person can experience. A fireball hotter than the sun vaporizing you instantly. A radient wave able to burn the paint off a bus in an instant. A shock wave capable of causing massive damage to strucutres. Radioactive fallout that causes cancer and lingers for a very long time. You either die instantly before you know something happened. You see the explosion and the shock wave kills you, or makes a building collapse on top of you. You were far enough away that you die slowly to cancer. Or you live. There are others I didn't mention as well.
