Scenes depicting the aftermath of an apocalyptic event whether it be relatively recent or from long ago.
Results vary widely depending on the apocalyptic event in question. Expect ruined cities, plant overgrowth (or vice versa), desperate survivors, corpses everywhere, pollution, and roving bands of bad people or even packs of monsters (usually zombies).
