"Darkest Dungeon" is a dark fantasy/lovecraftian horror RPG by Red Hook Interactive. The storyline follows the last scion of a noble line whose previous patriarch squandered the family fortune on unholy experiments in an attempt to gain the favour of an Eldritch Abomination known as "the Heart of Darkess" that slumbers beneath the mansion. Said scion never makes an appearance in the game; however, the mercenaries he or she hires do. The object of the game is to train (or "grind", in gaming parlance) a group of four mercenaries to the point that they can defeat the Heart and its minions. This is no easy task, however: mutants and undead bar the way, heroes die to their claws and teeth and other, more loathsome appendages, or become as viciously insane as the creatures they fight. Even should they remain pure, they become arrogant and refuse duties they feel beneath them. And ever does the Heart grow to wakefulness...

The game has two storyline DLCs, one character DLC, and one official alternate skin.
