Species play is content with a particular emphasis on real or imagined dynamics between species, or where a character is presented as a different species.

May coincide with human fetish, interspecies, and petplay. However...

• if a character expresses individual interest in a given species (e.g. humans), rather than suggesting both species have a particular relationship to each other (e.g. dogs as "man's best friend"), it's probably not species play.
• if a character wears a leash or similar, and no species dynamics or cross-species presentation are present, it's probably not species play.
• if two characters of the same species have a cross-species costume or similar between them (e.g. a lactating character in a cow print bikini), it may be both intraspecies and species play.
