Widowmaker is a defense oriented hero in the game whose abilities focus on maneuverability, traps, and an uncanny sense of her surroundings. It is widely held that Widowmaker is the wife of former Overwatch Operative Gérard Lacroix who spearheaded operations against the terrorist organization known as Talon. When Talon was unable to eliminate Gérard they switched their focus to his wife, Amélie. She was subseuently "re-conditioned" by Talon and turned into a sleeper agent for their organization. She was later rescued by Overwatch agents who had no idea of her condition. Two weeks after her rescue she murdered Gérard Lacroix while he slept.

Following her successful assassination Talon invested a great deal into further training for Widowmaker. Her physiology was altered by their scientists, slowing her heart rate to a crawl in order to give her exceptional control as a sniper. The result left her with cold bluish skin and a near emotionless demeanor.

Personality
Widowmaker is cold and calculating, the changes made to her body and mind by Talon have left her in a near emotionless state where she can only find true satisfaction in killing her target. Widowmaker is quite vain, taking great pride in her appearance and dress. While she is a highly skilled sniper she is also quite adept at using her rifle in full auto mode. As a combatant Widowmaker is singularly focused, not caring about allies or bystanders when her target is up.
